Description: A tradition of excellence for over 100 years, Gaido's Restaurant was started back in 1911 when S. J. Gaido first opened his doors to the public. Visitors often arrived to the restaurant by horse and buggy, boat or on the old interurban line. The Gaido's family commitment was to make the trip worthwhile with the best in service and the freshest seafood available.Today, the trip to Galveston is much easier but the service and cuisine of Gaido's Restaurant remains the same. All of the seafood is meticulously inspected and prepared by hand. Gaido's still peels shrimp, shuck oysters and fillets fish the old fashioned way. Gaido's has continued this tradition for ninety-plus years and that's not about to change. All of the sauces, salad dressings and desserts are homemade from Gaido's family recipes, using only finest of fresh ingredients.Whether for an important business lunch, a special dinner celebration or a relaxing weekend, Gaido's offers something for every palate and occasion. Our dress is casual and service and food is excellent! We hope to see you soon!

Not a good experience. The wedge salad to start was excellent; the blue cheese was very good. My husband and father both had soups for appetizers, neither could eat theirs for about 15 minutes because they were extremely hot (temperature). I had the ravioli with sundried tomatoes that came with grilled chicken. Terrible. First off, I love sundried tomatoes, this... More

My wife and I were in Galveston for the day on April 20. We felt the need to come here for the white linen, the service and food. We were not disappointed. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Loved looking at the Gulf while eating. Have been there many times before and will return.

The waitstaff was great, the atmosphere was excellent and the history of Gaido's is awesome. But was disappointed with the food. The Gumbo was excellent and we had fried platter and fried catfish. The waitress misunderstood the wive's order and brought broiled. She fixed the order immediately and comped the order. But the fried wasn't as good as we expected.... More

We went to dinner our first night in Galveston because this place was really close to our hotel. Service was OK - friendly, but not speedy. She forgot our bread. Oysters were good, and not something they have on hand all the time. Ahi tuna was also not bad, but have had better. A little overpriced for what we ordered.

My friend and I went to Galvaston Island for a couple days and someone had recommended Gaido's. The food was fantastic. Our waiter was so friendly and funny too. It's a good place for families too.

Gaido's offers a wonderful atmosphere, with incredible food. We were there for the Texas Water Show in April 2013. There were ten of us and the staff did an efficient job of taking care of us. The food was marvelous, the desert devine, and the staff were friendly. We all had a terrific time. I highly recommend this restaurant for... More

I had grilled snapper which was awesome, but the over cooked rice and side it came with left a LOT to be desired. A little confusion led to 4oz of local crab being added, it was pretty good but adds $12 to the cost. Beware as the waiter is constantly trying to up sell you to adding crab or shrimp.... More

We went here with a group of 8. The food was FANTASTIC! Our waiter seemed a bit snooty when he saw we had 2 kids, but all in all, it was excellent! We had pork chops, shrimp and grits, combo platter, lobster bisque, tuna steak. Everything was delicious! Would definitely return!

We stumbled on this restaurant and couldn't have been more pleased. The food and service was nothing short of amazing. Our hostess, Melody, was extremely helpful and patient. The entire staff was very professional. A top notch venue. We will make this a "must do" every time we travel to Houston. It is worth the drive.
