Absolutely the best barbeque anywhere by a mile. Two side by side restaurants. Biggest parking lot I have ever seen and full. The brisket is to die for. All you can eat ribs, brisket and sausage. Pecan pie and cobbler for dessert. Great service. Came from VA and found a gem. You must go here.

Salt Lick was not a destination, just happened to drive by while taking in the Texas Wine Trail. No crowds and no wait as we were there on a Wednesday. Read the sign indicating they don't serve beer or wine, but could be purchased next door. Not very convenient and overpriced. Had the three meat plate with two sides. The... More

You have to try the Salt Lick atleast once in Texas. Be preparred, you will park in a field full of cow pies and be eating in an old chicken coop but it is well worth it. My brother told me the place was located in a dry county (no booze) so I packed a small cooler of beer. Don't... More

The Salt Lick was a pleasant surprise on our reunion trip last weekend. We had a large group of rowdy guys and we couldn't have been treated better. The place was amazing and the meat was out of sight. We feasted on ribs, sausage, brisket and great sides. The place is BYOB which helps on the wallet with a big... More

We ate on Saturday afternoon---along with about 500 other families. Huge wait, too hot even inside. You have to pay in cash. No credit cards. You have to bring your own beer---they don't serve it there....food was average. My husband is a huge BBQ fan and thought it was okay. I'm not a huge fan and would never drive out... More

Great place for families, locals and those who are easily enamoured with atmosphere. However, don't come here with high expectations if you are a real bbq journeyman because you will be sadly disappointed by the mediocrity of yet another over-hyped destination joint.

I went here not really knowing what to expect, and what I didn't expect was to wait all afternoon to eat. We rolled in for what I considered a late lunch on a Saturday (about 2pm) and the massive dirt parking lot was already packed with cars and busses. Who knew this place was so popular? It is pretty much... More

The venue was awesome with live music and BYOB. Had a good meal and enjoyed the food, music and the company.

Our first visit was for take out, our next was to sit in. They may have been having a bad day on our first visit which was 2 years ago. Plenty to take home and enjoy later. I'm not a fan of the dry rub but it was pretty good.. I will be going back.
