Popped into The Croft Kitchen for lunch and discovered a little gem. Like others have mentioned, it's a simple blackboard menu however the food is great, well prepared and the service was friendly and prompt. We both had fish and chips which was delicious and the views from the outside tables made it even better! More

My father and I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat as we visited the distilleries on the west of the island. Simple menu, with fresh ingredients, and well prepared. We both had soup, and it was lovely. Quite expensive though, especially the cost of soft drinks. Nice little place though, with good natural lighting. Staff seemed a... More

Despite having a list of possible eating places on Islay, we ended up eating here on four occasions during our week's stay as we could not imagine anything better. As long as you are aware of the limitations - a short blackboard menu, the early evening closing time (7.30pm) and the lack of a license, there is no need to... More

Does what it says on the tin. Small menu, cooked well, and served in a friendly manner. Suited us just fine for an early evening meal after a long day exploring. More

Simple food but very tasty, and the owner and staff really enjoy their work. Definitely a place to visit when you're on Islay and want to have a lunch or diner or just a coffee More

I visited Islay with a friend in May 2010 and ate at the Croft Kitchen three times - by the end of the second visit we felt we were great friends with Jane, the owner/chef as well as her friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble for them to make you welcome. All food is freshly prepared, wholesome and plentiful... More

The restaurant/cafe is run by a female chef who obviously loves cooking. There are no menus, just a blackboard full of classic favourites and other attractive dishes. Very freindly, very welcoming and very relaxed. I ordered the soup that was on the board as a starter and the chef/owner said she had another one on the go that was much... More

Our party was greeted with welcome and good humour. We enjoyed light meals served to order and of good quality. The owner was happy to served special requests and this made an altogether pleasant visit. The bread here is excellent. This is a good place to stop off at on your way to or from the Bruicladdich distillery just a... More
