The menu in the window looked promising. The drinks area is a bit tatty but could be passed as having a certain character. The food was unpleasant. Boeuf bourguignon was grey with almost no flavour, the shephers's pie was cold in the middle and was still not hot when it was returned, lacked flavour, the gougons of sole was a... More

OK - the food is, and always has been, excellent. We've dined here three times over the years and the grub has never disappointed. There's also a decent selection of wines and it's a cosy place. Now you might think that's all you'd need. Here's the BUT....when we first went there we thought the service was bad because they were... More

What an absolute gem, from the moment we walked in the door we felt like we were having drinks in a friends home! The bistro is a warm, unique establishment giving the personal touch and the hosts are welcoming and very accommodating. We only popped in for a drink but as we were having such a good time we decided... More

Very quaint and interesting but above all good quality food and produce. Family run business that is used mainly by local custom.

Annabelle & Barry serve good wines and great food. You can pop in for a drink or book for dinner or both. Always friendly, you can even bring your dog into the bar. We live in Modbury and I simply don't recognize the comment below. The person must have been rather rude.

We were seduced by the imaginative menu on display. On arrival we were disturbed by the noise from the adjacent wine bar, but the menu was tempting so we stayed. We ordered the same dish, Duck a L’Orange., which was completely tasteless, we cook that better at home, the vegetables were good, but the wine had nothing to recommend it,... More

We stayed in Midbury 2 nights, and as its a small place tried a couple of places to eat & drink. We didnt eat at the Bistro but stopped in for drinks...and then stayed longer than expected. The bar has a personal feel To it and very friendly.... Relaxed and comfortable I'd suggest. We can't comment on the food, but... More

Barry is a perfectionist in the kitchen. I only ever had superb food in this establishment. I recommend spending a little more on the wine list and you will find yourself drinking truly beautiful wines at sensible prices... The restaurant part is discreet and personable... the bar side has a relaxed atmosphere rather like ones own living room... In my... More

We have been coming here for some years and love the cosy feel of the place. The lady in charge is always courteous and the chef is talented - the tempura is great. I also always love his steaks. The food is also reasonably priced with some interesting photos and pictures in the toilets which are sure to raise a... More

We've been here loads of times and stay in Modbury a couple of times a month. Just to be clear about the environment in the town (and in the bistro), this is a smallish community town far removed from the well trodden tourist spots in Devon. If you're coming here expecting fast food with loads of staff running around fussing... More
