We had lunch Saturday at The Trappe Door and really enjoyed all aspects. The facility is unusual in that it is in the basement of the building. Although somewhat dark, it is very inviting and gives a real European feel. The service was excellent. It is a menu that requires a little study, especially the MANY different beers. Our waitress... Hey I'm sorry, but I just don't get the appeal of this Greenville favorite. And I love beer! But when I think of what I could have eaten and drunk for $48, it just makes me mad. As a home brewer, I can appreciate the Trappe's amazingly deep list of top flight Belgian beers, but this joint is for bigger... More

Although the restaurant was basement level, it had a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and they had a great beer selection. The salads were fresh and tasty. We definitely recommend the mussels in a curry sauce as well as in the pesto sauce, and the seafood stew was absolutely delicious. This is definitely a good find.

My son took me here for lunch on my birthday (appropriate since I share a birthdate with Gambrinus, legendary king of Flanders, and an unofficial patron saint of beer brewing.) The Lamburger Sliders were very appetizing. The Pork and Cherry Sausage Hoagie was excellent, teamed with a Lindemans Kriek lambic. The disappointing part of the meal was that both the... More

The mussles were awesome. The grilled fish dish with the thai red currey and jasmine rice was fantastic.

Lovers of Belgian ales, ale houses, monastery beer (like Orval, etc. etc.) will feel right at home here. They got everything right: the ambiance, the atmosphere, the selection of beers (very intelligently put together), and the food was fresh and good, the service just fine. If you want a taste of Belgium in South Carolina (of all places), then head... More

Nice place, very slow service and rude servers. Beer was great but very over priced. Food was below par. Visit once is enough.

The selection is incredible and the wine list is diverse. The menu offers a variety of options from large Angus burgers, duck, meatloaf and seafood. As the name implies, the decor is very Bavarian.

Good menu and wonderful beer selections. We loved the atmosphere and the way it was decorated. The only downside was the grumpy waiter. Did not go out of his way to help us with beer choice or to explain condiments that came with the awesome fries. We visited at an off time so it wasn't like he was busy! Mr... More

Excellent mussels and French fries and beer - our favorite lunch in Greenville. It's like being in Bruges again. Excellent service too!
