I enjoy this restaurant. We wanted to try Fig or go to Magnolias but couldn't get a last minute reservation so we did an early dinner here. The decor is sophisticated but southern with big old fashioned fans on the ceiling. They have a fun cocktail menu (try the one with house-made spicy ginger ale). The fish dishes were fresh... More

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at High Cotton and we were greeted with anniversary wishes and once seated at the table we requested, 2 glasses of champagne! Such a nice touch. Our food was fantastic and we were treated wonderfully, as I'm sure everyone is. We don't get to Charleston very often, only every other year, and High... More

What a wonderful experience...best fried oysters and appetizers in Charleston. Make sure you have a reservation.

Offered black napkins without asking--so no lint on our black slacks. I ordered grilled scallops which were so very salty it made them inedible. They graciously replaced them with the halibut dinner which was very good. The salad of watercress and thinly sliced beets and radishes was tasteless and hardly had any dressing. My husband's filet was one of the... More

This is definitely a "fine dining" restaurant. Convenient location, beautiful decorations, excellent service with great serving staff. Menu items were novel and well-prepared. Gazpacho was delicious, with a bit of a kick. We had the red snapper and the chicken dishes, both were delicious! A strawberry rhubarb crisp was delicious, though a bit more tart rhubarb than sweet strawberry. A... More

Hadd dinner here on Friday, 5/10/13. Ordered the Brussel Sprouts (by far the best Brussel Sprouts I've ever eaten) and the rest of the meal was non-eventful. Place has a strict "no hats" dress code, so leave your fedora at home. Place is presumptuous and opulent décor will leave your belly hungry. Place is overpriced for what you get. Suggest... More

Try the lump crab Benedict and the sorghum and pecan doughnut holes. Atmosphere is bright with 1920's southern feel. Service was great. Bloody Mary's and The Southern Mule were fine drinks!

Went in for apps with the kids and found a table in the bar that had live jazz. Was perfect! Truffle popcorn, clams with garlic and warm rolls with our drinks and enjoyed the music. The kids got a taste of Charleston and it was walkable from our hotel.

We had Sunday brunch here. All I can say is Oh, my! There were five in our party. Everyone ordered something different from the menu. Eggs Florentine was delicious, salmon and grits very creamy. The scallops were perfectly cooked, nice sear but still tender. You must order a Painkiller and peach bellini. Very good. Service was very attentive, Delia has... More

Read countless reviews of Charleston restaurants before picking High Cotton for our anniversary dinner. Perfect choice. Elegant but not stuffy interior, excellent service & fabulous food. My scallops were ambrosial, my husband loved his filet mignon, and the dark chocolate pudding with cream & pretzels mmm mmm mmmmm. What made the evening even more special was a jazz singer covering... More
