Stopped for breakfast (2 of us) on a Saturday AM. Got seated right away. When we left there was a line. Had to correct the server on the drink order. And the breakfast order got messed up. Probably won't rush back here next time.
The last time I ate a Pamela's was 1980-something (and in Squirrel Hill). I was so happy to see that they had opened a branch in Oakland. The pancakes are as awesome as I remember, and the service was quick and friendly.
Try the banana chocolate chip pancakes. You wont be disappointed. They are thicker than a crepe but thinner than a normal pancake. You get two that are rolled like a crepe with the filling inside. They were excellant. We also had a bacon egg and cheese bagel and a spinach and feta omlette. All were very good. Service was good...

This place is in the heart of the university area---UPitt, in particular. It's not large, but it's fun and festive with board games from the past 50 years lining the walls.
We had brunch----cinnamon croissant french toast, a tex-mex omelette, a ham/cheese omelette, and scrambled eggs. With the four of us, we each raved about the diner's speciality hashbrown potatoes....

Good food, get the crepes. You will have to wait. The biggest problem is they only take cash. Typically with a family of 5, I dislike this as that means I need to carry another $50 to $60 on me to pay.
Best advice... arrive before 10 or be prepared to wait. Walked in at 9 on Saturday with 6....sat right down. Half way through the meal the line was out the door. Food was very good! We'd do this again!
Went on a Sunday morning (free parking). It was busy but people came & ate quickly. Excellent hotcakes! I especially liked the chocolate chip banana pancakes with whipped cream. I shared them with my 5 yr old (who didn't like them for some unknown reason - the waitress refused to charge us for the one she didn't eat!). Husband had...

I ate at Pamela's yesterday morning, Friday, around 8:30 a.m. with my husband and two sons. We'd been making our rounds to all the recommended Pittsburgh dining spots all week and it was finally time to give Pamela's a try. Given that a couple of the "hot" spots were good, but a little overrated, I was hoping for the best....

My familiy loves the potatoes, but it's the pancakes that I crave. Expect a wait, but hang in there. My only complaint is there loyalty cards. Whether you buy 1 meal or 6 (like we do) you only get 1 punch per check/table. Considering how cheap it is to make breakfast, I think this policy is very stingy.
