Description: During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

We visited John Jeffries over Labor Day weekend. The bar is superb, having an ambience second to none. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated. Our food was excellent. What drops it to 4 stars is the snootiness of the staff. We had a reservation and arrived maybe 10 minutes early. The table was available but the hostess made us wait... More

Great food and fantastic craft brew selection. Had the lamb leg steak and it was delicous. Waiter was very helpful in recommending a complimentary wine. Not nomally a desert eater, but my wife and I shared a generous slice of cheese cake - wow it was good.

Located in the Lancaster Arts Hotel on Rte 30, this restaurant specializes in serving locally grown fresh seasonal meats, fruits and vegetables. The menu is basic but prepared with imagination and served with pride. Good solid wine list with something for everyone and any number of house specialty cocktails. They offer a small plate menu and a large plate menu.... More

John J. Jeffries is certainly one of Lancasters best fine dining experiences and perhaps the best farm to table restaurant in all of South Central Pennsylvania. The menu sometimes includes game. Their duck preparations and use of pork belly are stand outs. The wine selection is broad and reasonably priced. It is apparent that they source as much of their... More

Love this restaurant! Nice menu, locally raised meats and produce, original cocktails and nice selection of wines and beer of which a number are locally produced, and articulate and well-versed wait staff who know the menu well. An interesting fact, this menu is nearly gluten free.

Went there on a Saturday night with my wife in March. Doing some online research showed it was a pretty nice place to get some good food. I figured let's give it a try. We went without any reservations. The place was very busy and the bar was also full. We managed 2 seats at the bar and ordered some... More

I work in Lancaster, and when I'm there for a business dinner, I always try to get a table at John Jeffries. This locavore, sustainable, and (I recently discovered) low-gluten restaurant is a real gem, as another reviewer stated. The chef mixes local specialities with a range of other styles (Jim Bim Bop, for one example) with fascinating, and always... More

My husband, grown son and I had dinner here tonight (a Monday). While it gets busy on weekends, the restaurant was pleasantly uncrowded--and the host seated us at a reasonable distance from other diners. The service, ambiance, and food were all outstanding. We found the prices reasonable and the food out of the ordinary--in a positive way. We enjoyed appetizers... More

I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and the food as well as service never disappoints. The atmosphere is wonderful for a romantic dinner. It is a farm to table restaurant with an outstanding variety of dishes - both small plates and large.
