Stop for a meal before long ride home on turnpike. Went to tavern and sat at bar. Nice atmosphere. Very clean. Waited on right away Ordered French onion soup, fried oysters and tavern salad with chicken. All the food was very good. Salad topped with fries, perfection. Beverages very good and the check for the food quantity and quality was... More

on a long road trip, there is too much food that all blends together, but not at Jean Bonnet Tavern. It isn't quite as close to the highway, as some reviews might have indicated, but thanks to google maps, and some nav assistance, we got there, and once there had a great meal, with solid beer choices, and were in... The food and atmosphere is wonderful, plus the historical aspects of the location gives it a 5 point rating from me. My daughter enjoyed the little petting "zoo" located outside of the tavern. The area the tavern is located has a wonder view of the surrounding mountains if you choose to have lunch or dinner outside on the patio. We... More

Recommended to us by some locals and those recommendations always require a visit. Fresh homemade comfort food. Great gift shop with a beautiful, unique selection of household adornments.

This is a great restaurant/tavern in a historic building. Food has always been excellent. If cold outside, try to get a table next to the fireplaces for a cozier experience...reservations recommended.

$30 prime rib & $30 steak a la carte? May be the standard fare in big cities, but in other area restuarants a whole meal of prime rib is under $20 and best steak just over $20. Was the prime rib worth it? Absolutely not a bit better that other area restaurants. Friebdly service, etc., sure, but in a small... More

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. At the Jean Bonnet Tavern, all of our entrees come with a salad, rolls & butter and two side dishes included in the price. We use Certified Prime Grade Beef for our slow roasted prime rib. Less than 2% of all beef produced is USDA Prime and we choose to use... More

This was nice from the greeting to the goodbye. The diners were seated outside or in in a really pretty area. The food was outstanding, as was the service. We had heard about it and have recommend it to many folks.

I am partial to old buildings and this restaurant is in a fantastic one. Wooden beams, huge stone fireplace set a great scene add an interesting menu that makes it hard to choose and you have some idea of what a great experience this place is. Comfortable and casual, friendly staff - I really have no regrets other than I... More

Wife and I have passed through this area many times while travelling between Toronto and Virginia and though we had seen the Jean Bonnet tavern advertised, we had avoided it as a probable tourist trap. Big mistake! This year, we ate there twice, southbound and northbound, and enjoyed both meals. What a treat to sit by a roaring fireplace on... More

We're locals and have been here a few times over the years. My final answer is that we are not likely to eat here again. The food is seriously overpriced, portions small and quality poor. I tried to like it, but it just is not working. I paid $26 for five slightly seared, low-quality scallops, served over a rice dish... More
