Three of us had dinner at Jakes Famous tonight. First of all the room they tried to seat us in was frigid. We refused to sit in the room. They moved us to a different room which was better. However, our server was one of the worst any of us have had in years. She was totally inattentive, only refilled... More

It's a bit expensive (being one of the best seafood restaurants in the world, it's said), but the food and service are really outstanding.

My husband and I accompanied by my daughter enjoyed a great Mother's Day brunch at Jake's Famous Crawfish. I had the Quiche Lorraine, my daughter had the Brioche French Toast and my husband had a Seafood egg dish. Everything was delicious including the sweet breads served before the meal. The service was impeccable, the restaurant's decor was reminiscent of old... More

I had the Mahi-Mahi and it was excellent. We showed up impromptu with 7 folks in our party and we were seated very quickly with drinks in hand in a very short amount of time. If you're looking for fresh, tasty seafood, this is definitely a "win".

When we want to give someone a great Portland dinner, we take them to Jake's. Crawfish house for the younger crowd and Jake's Grill for the more mature set. Always great for either!

Went looking for a steak house and found Jake's instead. This was a terrific surprise, as it was my last night in Portland. I had the CrabCakes for Dinner and found them very well made. The others in my party had various dishes and soups. All of them were very happy with the dish they choose. I would highly reccomend... More

One must arrive early to get seated for this happy hour. During summer happy hour extends to outside. The menu the prices--theres enough left over for at least a couple of healthy drinks. The bartenders. waitresses are so helpful and fun after a couple drinks its all good, and fun is had by all in a beautifully restored old Portland... More

I seem to be an outlier here, but my visit to this restaurant underwhelmed me completely. This is a mediocre chain restaurant with no apparent chef hiding behind a name that implies an owner on premises. Don't be fooled! I had a caesar salad, which was dull and poorly dressed. It had old croutons that could well have been prepackaged,... More

The atmosphere was warm and old-worldly. My oysters were fresh and subtle. Mr S had the calamari appetiser which was huge. The snails were divine, and perfectly accompanied by a salad. Wonderful selection of wines, though most are too pricey for us and only available by the bottle. We wandered in at about 5:30 on a Friday and booked for... More
