I've visited Market two times since its opening. The remodeled space is a great improvement from the previous tenant Carafe. The bar area has more room and more seating. The indoor and outdoor spaces are greatly improved, making this a nice option for happy hour or dinner before a show at the Keller. The menu offes a great selection of... More

Perhaps it's not good to compare a restaurant to the previous business that occupied the same space. That being said, we went to Market last night before attending a show at the Keller Auditorium across the street. Disappointed that my beloved Carafe was no more, we sat down to experience all that Market had to offer. Standing on its own,... More

Girls night out - we had an amazing waiter - Tori and fantabulous food! We ordered one of almost everything on the happy hour menu! The Escargot, The Mussels, The Steak & Pomme Frittes, Salad, Smoked Salmon, Duck, Pickled Veggies! All of it was amazing! Wine and cocktails were fantastic! This place was not busy - and we can't figure... More

I'm not a big fan of French cuisine, so I was a little concerned when friends suggested we go here before a show. But it was a wonderful experience. The Escargot appetizer was garlicky and yummy. I had the braised lamb and it was truly luscious -- the best restaurant meal I've had in quite a while. The house red... More

The croque monsieur (and madame with egg on top) are the best I have ever tasted, better than in France! The fries (frites) and aoilli dipping sauce are also fantastic. Makes me hungry even thinking about it.

I never would have picked this restaurant, but our friends did and we went along. The menu had exactly 7 entrees to choose from. Unless you like duck, lamb, super fatty pork or fish, the one choice remaining was chicken, which was delicious. The pommes puree and vegetables that came with the chicken were even better than the chicken! The... More

My husband, mother, and I had lunch here prior to seeing a matinee show at the Keller Auditorium. I did make reservations in advance. We were very pleased with the menu selection, the food preparation, and the service. We shared the charcuterie plate as an appetizer, and really enjoyed it; the duck rilletes and chicken liver mousse were especially delicious.... More

Carafe was highly reccomended by a friend, but we decided to go there also because it is near the Keller Auditorium where our Mary Poppins tickets were. We sat outside on a nice Portland late afternoon and were treated with a couple of decent glasses of wine. I opted for their ham sandwich and pomme frites. My wife had the... More

but couldn't really recommend either the French Onion soup (way too sweet) or the salad (greens with maybe 1/2 tsp. of dressing), but great bread, good wine and a lovely dessert. Service was good and I liked that parking was paid for and that the restaurant is so convenient to the Keller.

The place is convenient and small, the decor quite cute. Staff at first were friendly, then disappeared. The food prices are pretty much average. The menu limited and different. I appreciate new things and different combinations. The chef needs to back off on the oil. The salad was tasteless and oily. The sandwich had no flavor at all other than... More
