Just come back from an overnight stay with 8 family members. The accommodation is superb and its a great place to stay. However the presentation and attention to the food I would seriously question. We ordered from the evening menu and 4 out of 8 main courses went back three lamb and one steak all were cold,The other two steaks... More

Called into the Carpenters Arms after a long tiring journey from Hampshire and was greeted by a wonderfully presented establishment and attentive staff. Both myself and my wife chose a roast Sunday lunch, mine being pork and my wife's the beef. The meats were tender and absolutely delicious as were the selection of freshly cooked vegetables. Although there was a... More

My wife and i stayed the night and ate in the restaurant in May 2013 and it was one of the best places we have ever stayed in (and we do weekends away very frequently). The staff were very professional and friendly, the food and drinks were of the highest quality. The room iteself was immaculately clean and well equipped,... More

We called into the Carpenters Arms for lunch after a morning dog walk. From the outside the place looks like a pretty country inn but there is so much more to this place. There's a wonderful sun terrace with panoramic views over the beautiful countryside, a really pretty garden, bedrooms that looked really comfortable, a great menu and extensive wine... More

We booked a one night stay at the Carpenters Arms and the service we received from arriving to leaving was excellent. We were shown to our Garden room which was an absolute delight, it was stunning!! with a first class bathrom, lounge area, and huge very comfortable bed, not forgetting the honesty mini bar, complimentry tea and coffee, large tv... For me, the pub is starting to realise it's potential for being a warm, welcoming, friendly and reliable place to go, for drinks or food. And I use the term 'pub' very deliberately and positively...it is not a silver service restaurant and I don't think they want to be! Having said that, I had been put off after a couple... More

We visited on Friday night for a baby shower we were made very welcome and as there were a lot of us in our group assumed we would have a long wait for food-but we were served really quickly and the food was lovely. The barmen made us fabulous cocktails- we cancelled our taxi to stay longer as the atmosphere... More

Dear Dennis Thank you for drawing this error to my attention - you are quite right, you should not have been charged for a 'shot' of lime cordial (this item is usually used for a measure of lime served with soda). We are really sorry for the oversight, and the bar team have been reminded of how we do and... More

Popped in for a lunchtime drink, and to check out this relatively newly refurbished 'gastro-pub'. Looked all very smart, but the bar is most unwelcoming, cluttered up with pumps and a huge bowl of wine bottles - definitely discourages sitting or standing at the bar itself. Emphasis - obviously - on sitting down to eat. Staff pre-occupied with admin and... More

Thank you for your feedback, we are really surprised that you didn't receive the usual grand Yorkshire Welcome offered at the Carpenters. As you noted we offer a great selection of Beers, Wines by the glass and have lots of tables in the tap room bar to sit and enjoy drinks, as well as the terrace areas - when the... More

The Carpenters Arms is a local to us and would definitely recommend the Magnificent seven! Excellent choice at an even better price!
