Enjoyed a lunchtime snack in a great traditional pub. Later had hot refreshments which were excellent. Landlord & landlady were friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere, also was busy especially for a weekday lunchtime. Good local beer.

A lovely friendly village pub with an excellent menu and food. The landlords, Dave and Angie, always make you feel very welcome. Have yet to be disappointed and don't think we ever will be. Would not hesitate to recommend The Black Boy to anyone, good beers, wines and lovely food. Well worth a visit.
I have visited this pub twice in the past month, first for a lunch meal and then for an evening meal. On both occasions we received a friendly welcome and enjoyed the food, good selection at great prices!
Went for a family lunch time meal March 2013.
The pub has plenty of parking with a downstairs bar. The beer is good and reasonably priced. You then set off upstairs to a small restaurant.
The lunch menu had an offer which we all went for. Some went for the 2 course options, others the 3 course.
Everyone enjoyed all...

Very nice pub, good food, nice beer, friendly and excellent service. We had a pub lunch, but they have restaurant as well. The pub was a proper traditional pub, had a nice atmosphere. Well worth stopping there.
My husband and I went here for lunch with a friend and a 1 year old as we walked in there was a small local pub feel however we didn't feel out of place. Upstairs in the restaurant was empty, the menu and specials all looked great and service was good. We all enjoyed our meals and had a variety...

Good food, friendly atmosphere, excellent service, well kept real ales, staff very helpful and attentive, would recommend this restaurant to anyone
This place offers good value meals but I have found that they are often too salty for my taste - especially the sauces. This is a personal opinion and others may well disagree.
Lovely traditional English home cooking at its best, very friendly helpful staff. Traditional setting, and very fair pricing. Never been disappointed.
You can either eat in the bar or the restaurant upstairs. Very friendly staff, real ales, traditional pub grub of summat bit more special in restaurant. Traditional pub.
