Upstairs in the Cartmel Village Shop is a tiny café with impossibly good food. It was cold miserable rainy (Summer !) day, and we ordered "comfort food". Hot chocolate, Soup and a Roll, and fantastic scones with jam and cream. Plus a Quiche and Salad to make us feel a little virtuous. Cost was GBP 26. Excellent value for two... More

Everyone on here has rightly raved about the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. I just wanted to add that the cafe upstairs is excellent. The fruit scones were great as was the jam that came with them. The cafe staff are also very friendly. The shop downstairs is a great deli, although prices reflect this.

We had great Scones and home-made raspberry jam with clotted cream for afternoon tea at the tiny café upstairs. Coffee was excellent, and locally roasted.

We popped in after seeing the positive reviews on here and we were definitely not disappointed! The shop itself is a treasure trove of foodie delights and the cafe sells lovely light bites. I had the mushroom quiche and salad which was delicious and my other half the pork pie - which was so good we bought some from the... More

If you are watching your waist line give this shop a miss. The most glorious puddings and sauces (not to mention the pies cheeses and wines). Still run by the family who started Cartmel puddings brand in the back room with all the family working shifts. Still kept its lovely village shop feeling though. lovely.

This cafe is above the home of Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. Good quality and selection of coffee and tea, great bacon sandwiches and a selection of home made cakes. Choose the window seat and you have a fantastic view of village life. Waitress was very helpful and friendly.

Cartmel UK is something of a gourmet paradise with Michelin restaurant, micro brewery, smokehouse etc. So the village shop is much more than that....full of delights whether cheese, chocolate, finest meats, pies....or the wonderful range of puddings including Cartmel sticky toffee pudding possibly the original and the greatest... Even the shopper baskets are whicker.
