Great food, cozy warm atmosphere, excellent service, beautiful surroundings...what's not to like! If you've ever wondered how many ways can trout be prepared, one look at the menu should answer that question.

The Brown Trout is the best restaurant around the area -- and as good as any elsewhere too! Great variety of food, and its all good -- especially the crab bisque, and of course the trout!
Casual, cozy, and great food. This restaurant is a popular spot all year round and well worth stopping in for dinner. Great pizza too.
The staff was very pleasant, but slow in getting drinks, menus, the check, etc. The food was good, but not great, although the trout dishes were very good. Prices a bit high for the size of portions. The place is small but quaint. The food is good, and I love the atmosphere. I like what they did to the place. I have gone here a few times, and have enjoyed it every time. Reccomend.
We almost always visit the Brown Trout when we are in Lake Toxaway. The food is consistently excellent, with some unusual preparations like the Blackberry Chicken which is an off menu item. The atmosphere is fun and a bit quirky yet charming. This restaurant can get packed and loud on busy summer weekends, so you will need to reserve ahead....

We reserved a table for 10 at 6:30 and that was the best part of our dining experience. This restaurant had such great ambiance on Lake Toxaway, and the trout was prepared 15 different ways on the menu. We went twice during our stay and each time the the food was excellent! I highly recommend it! Make reservations!!
As ther name suggests they know their Trout a difficult fish and they also know pizza. The trout was succulent and interesting in a layer of Italian ham. Will return anytime I am in the area.
We have eaten there a few times and really enjoy the food. Especially the whole chicken and ribs. The grits and corn pudding are a nice treat also! I highly recommend! WJ
