Description: We're unlike anything else in the Triangle. Dos Perros offers fresh and truly authentic Mexican cuisine, an extensive beer list, and carefully chosen wines. Our house-made aguas frescas (horchata, hibiscus, and more) are delicious by themselves or in several of our innovative cocktails. And we serve it all in a warm but upscale environment. And for groups of up to 50, we offer a warm, cozy, downstairs private dining room, perfect for private parties. Our 60" high-definition flat screen adds to the possibilities; think business meetings or presentations, movie night, or that big game. Ideally located, we are downtown, just a couple-minute walk from the Durham Performing Arts Center, making us a popular pre- or post-performance restaurant destination. Dos Perros Restaurant. If you are lookin for haute cuisine Mexican/South American food or something cutting edge in these cuisines look elsewhere. Otherwise if you want an enjoyable dining experience, fairly priced, and professionally served, do go here. My wife and I were warned about the traffic congestion caused by the concurrence of a Bulls game with a DPAC show. So we were... More

Though we didn't have high expections - after walking across the railroad tracks to an unimpressive yellow establishment interpreted "two dogs," we ended up being pleasantly surprised. Seated quickly and served promptly, we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal before attending an event at DPAC. Ben, our waiter, was excellent and patient in helping me select items from... More

I recently ate here with friends before seeing a show at the Carolina Theatre. All the reviews I read said the guacamole was fresh made and awesome. It was very tasty, had a nice creamy texture but not alot of seasoning. When mixed with the green salsa it had a nice balance. But it was not fresh made. All said... More

Being from San Diego, I never seek out Mexican food when I'm elsewhere in the US. But we were in town for the Full Frame Documentary film festival, and everything else was packed. The service was good and the food was nicely done.

In a town where you're expecting grits and fired green tomatoes, this restaurant was a treat and could easily find its way in Santa Fe. Great margaritas and a cool craft beer collection set us up for the best chili relleno's we've ever had, and then the special chili stuffed with shrimp and corn surpassed that! We loved the energy... Located on Mangum street in downtown Durham. Scarce on-street parking, but there is public parking across the street. We came on a Friday evening, no reservations, seated without delay. Ambience mostly couples. Very loud acoustics. The three of us had the pork cheek, the lamb enchilada, and the seafood quesadilla. The quesadilla was unremarkable, the enchilada decent, and the pork... More

Dos Perros, without a doubt, is a premier eatery: Attentive and knowledgeable serving staff, guacamole second-to-none and an atmosphere worthy of a cosmopolitan downtown area. Well, it IS Durham. I took my sweetie out for Valentine's Day. It should be noted I took her to Dos Perros. While the taste of my shrimp dish was excellent - nice sauce for... More

Whan taking business partners out for a meal at the end of a day of meetings, the host team must ensure that the restaurant will provide an experience that reflects the characteristics of their Company. So it was important that Dos Peros was good. And it was. Never in all of my (arguably limited) experience have I been faced with... More

I will say compared to other restaurants I've eaten at in the downtown Durham area, this one was relatively normal food, which was refreshing, but still not your standard Mexican food. It's more modern/exotic options than the usual. My only real complaint, though, was that the food was not as hot (temperature-wise) as it should have been. It was sort... More

Reservations are an absolute must here. We waited ~10 minutes past our reservation time of 6:30. There were a shocking number of menu items that were either unavailable or had different sides or sauces. For appetizers we had guacamole (very good) and the empanada plate (okay). The sauce on the empanadas was once of the above mentioned changes so it... More
