Our motel recommended this "hole in the wall" cafe because we just want a simple place to eat a small meal. Wow! Our chicken mole enchiladas were absolutely delicious and so well plated. I also ordered a smoothie made of mango, pineapple and orange juice - oh so good. Then our friendly waiter told us that we couldn't leave Taos... More

I love small, owner operated, non-chain restaurants. We went to La Cueva Café expecting good local Mexican food. What we found, much to our delight, was fine Mexican cuisine. The molé was excellent - not just brown chocolate sauce but a work of art - a wonderful marriage of chiles and chocolate. Everything was well and imaginatively prepared and artistically... More

This restaurant was an amazing end to our day in Taos. First, everyone knows you can judge a restaurant by its salsa, and this one didn't disappoint. I had the gluten free chile rellenos (a rare treat if you are gluten intolerant). My companion had the special chicken mole which was also delicious! The service is friendly with excellent attention... More

We stopped her based on the Tripadvisor reviews. This is possibly the smallest restaurant I have ever seen! It does have an outdoor seating area (where we dined). We traveled through New Mexico and this was possibly the best meal we had eaten all week. Excellent chips, salsa and guacamole. We ordered the taco salad, fajitas and shrimp tacos and... More

We were looking for a quick lunch and were lucky to find a table at this small, popular Taos eatery. A patron (clearly a regular) hearing us talk about how good our lunch was said "the key lime pie was to die for". We heartily agree.

We went based on a trip advisor recommendation and we fell in love with this tiny treasure of a restaraunt! The front room seats only about 10 people, and we were happy to get there early before it filled up. Everything is made from scratch including the red and green chile.... When ordering a dish that has the option of... More

We ate dinner here based on recommendations on TripAdvisor. We were glad we tried it! It is a small place, but they did have another area available with seating as well. The food was excellent. I tried the special, which was fish with shrimp and vegetables. It was very good! Great restaurant!

For a good meal at a reasonable price served by attentive friendly staff in Taos, this is your place. It truly is a hole in the wall and if not for the reviews I read here, I would have passed it by. After spending too much for average food the two prior nights in Taos, I was pleased to enjoy... More

What a great little find this was...and I do mean LITTLE! We were lucky enough to snag one of the few tables on a Friday night. The soups are delish - we had a cream corn and a tortilla soup - my fave was the tortilla - great flavors. I had the special - local trout with shrimp that was... More

We went to La Cueva for dinner and sat at the small room in the main building. The room has only three tables! It feels like you are visiting family. (They do have a nice patio, and a second, bigger room). The place has such a vibrant, positive vibe! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The customers would talk... More
