We met friends in the Colette bar for dinner and had other meals there during our stay at the hotel. Bar menu very limited but quite good and the service is spot on. I particularly enjoyed the heirloom tomato / manchego cheese salad; very tasty, perfectly seasoned, artfully constructed. Also very much enjoyed an odd item -- braised beef, onion... More

This was once one of my favorite places to eat. Not any more. A recent visit sealed it. I had the "Taste of France" combination. The Caesar salad was a bowl of dry lettuce. Terrible. The beef was a skimpy cube of beef with some canned gravy added. Cold and flavorless. The assorted cheese plate was acceptable as was the... More

While not as good as it used to be, it is still a decent brasserie , very good , and still popular, for breakfast meetings. Has paired down the menu over the past few years.

Breakfast was wonderful. Perfectly cooked, served with finesse. Supper was actually terrible. I had great expectations as the bread was flavourful and chewy and the French onion soup, although a bit bland, was better than most. It was definitely NOT French cooking. The dressings on the very tiny, overpriced salads were vinegary, the promised heirloom tomatoes were tasteless, prawns were... More

This place always has a great brunch buffet. Pricey, but worth it. Nice selection of everything you could want.

Sofitel is a faux french hotel chain where everyone pretends to speak French (except in this case the doorman, thank goodness) Had breakfast with a client this morning. We both had the eggs benedict with duck confit. Wonderful. Our waitress, Ursula, was just about perfect. Really seemed to love her work and gave us just the right amount of attention.... More

Colette is located within the Sofitel Hotel in Bloomington. When you enter there is a large bar area to the left with numerous high seat tables with booths and tables to the right. The menu is classical French in genre with dishes including escargot, onion soup, coq au vin, beef bourguignon, and finished with crème brulée. Overall I was very... More

My husband and I recently celebrated his birthday by staying at the Sofitel, a charming French-themed hotel in Bloomington. Our room included complimentary breakfast at Chez Colette, a cozy bar and bistro. We ventured down for an early meal about 0730, on Sunday during a snowstorm. We were welcomed and promptly seated, and our waitress, who really was French, insisted... More

Loved it all. Service and food quality is superb. Sammy is the maitre de and an excellent host. You really feel as if you have left the midwest.

From beginning to end we loved it here! My Mom, two sisters and I started out girls day by having a nice leisurely breakfast. The coffee was awesome, the crab cake Benedict was amazing and the ambience was elegant and comfortable. Service is slow paced but, we weren't in a rush. When I made the reservations I mentioned we were... More
