This place used to have good chowder, not any more unfortunately. I had Pancakes and how can you screw up pancakes!! Prices are reasonable for the lunch menu, overpriced for the dinner menu tho. Their open site kitchen does not entice appetite

its a really good place to grab and coffee and a snack to go . great outdoor seating near the old railway wagon !.
After reading all the reviews saying that this place is always packed, we were really lucky to walk straight in get a seat by the window! We really liked the vibe here - fun and friendly. The best thing about the tavern was the view... You're literally on the beachfront. That said, the food was good and reasonably priced, $40...

The menu had many great looking choices but we just had a mug of the clam chowder and a beer for a quick lunch. It was delicious. Very chunky with clams and potatoes.
We plan to return for breakfast as they offer many omelettes and benedicts.
It was a quiet mid-week afternoon on a cool April day, but the staff...

I was actually very very surprised with how good the food was at this place. The prices are about average but they give generous portions. I recommend the White Russian pancakes for a breakfast/lunch.:)
We felt our first trip to the Vineyard warranted a visit to the famed Black Dog Tavern. A family of four adults traveling in off season over Easter holiday weekend.
We immediately liked the location, the atmosphere, and the fact that there were tables available for our hungry tummies to dine right away! The menu and drink selections were very...

A little over rated , limited menu not such great service. I was quite disappointed and so was my husband. We come over in our boat and have tried breakfast and lunch and was not impressed, The do have a good bakery.
Cute little restaurant with nice view of harbor at Vineyard Haven. Good menu selection. Had the fish sandwich and it was excellent. Service was good, too.
The breakfasts are great.Folks compare it with Art Cliff or Linda Jeans but day in day out Black Dog breakfast is great. Oh and we use their cookbook all the time. One of the best seafood cookbooks going. Never, I repeat never found a bad recipe in it.
Thought it was going to be a tourist trap but was very good- homemade food and huge portions. wait for breakfast was around 15 minutes so not bad- right on the water so you can watch the yachts come and go
