We had dined inside once before and thought the food was decent, yet it was quite the opposite for our recent experience memorial day weekend. Sunday night to be exact; we opted for take out and ordered a wrap and vegetable stir fry with noodles. My husband was disgusted by how filthy the kitchen was when he entered through the... More

We used to visit Val's restaurant years ago. It was always delicious and affordable for a special night out. We found ourselves again in the Holden area tonight and decided to revist this favorite. In the intervening 5 years they have greatly expanded. The atomosphere is as charming as ever; the food is just as delicious; and the price is... More

I had dinner with my wife, son and father inlaw. $60 bucks $72 after tip. I had lobster, clams and mussels. She had chicken and Penne with alfredo sauce. He had Seafood caserole and my sone had a grilled cheese. Teh lobster was tender and cooked just right, the clams had no sand in them, and the mussels didn't taste... More

Varied menu and the people often make you feel at home. Large local following. Can always count on a good meal.

This time had the Greek salad and added steak tips - man, those tips were tasty - I suggest them alone or with any salad. Always a good meal, sparkling restrooms, good (never SUPER fast but not dawdling) service. Dependable value.

Val's has been around for many years in Holden and there are good reasons for that. The service is personal and excellent, the food is consistently good and Val herself is a love. She can be seen walking through the dining room nightly, often sitting to chat for a few minutes with her diners. The prices are a little high,... More

I have eaten at vals many times and honestly to sum it up in one sentence, it is truly hit or miss. Sometimes the food can be pretty decent and other times the food can be of really poor quality. The one consistent thing about vals is the fact that Val can always be heard screaming at her staff either... More

Sister in law suggested this place. 1/28/12 Sat. night 6:30pm 1/2 hr. wait well worth it. I had Lamb Chops over some sort of Beans w/ Roasted Potatoes. My wife had Fried Ravioli w/ Chicken Asparagus and Mushrooms in a Red Sauce, both from the specials. Sis IL had Baked Nutty Salmon, Broth. IL had Baked Atlantis both from the... More

Went there the other day and had lousy service (maybe because of the holidays). Very unorganized. Even Val was rude. What made things worse is 2 out of 4 people had the same fish dinner & got sick the next day. What more can I say? Rude with food that made some sick... You be the judge.
