Wonderful Japanese cuisine. An amazingly varied menu. You can get just about anything here. Attentive, helpful staff.
Yes, I've had better sushi in California and Vancouver, but this is pretty top notch.
I am torn with this review. I don't want to pan Bizen, as the food was really quite good. However, it was a formula for a big bill every little step of the way. You want a tiny bowl of rice with that? $3. Chicken skewers? Better order a few extra orders as they are are not going to go...

Beautiful and authentic Japanese restaurant. The chef and owner Michael Marcusn is dedicated to his craft and his food. He has hand made many of the dishes you eat on besides the dishes that you eat. The type of pottery is Biizen.

Bizen is not your average Japanese restaurant. The owner takes great care in selecting all the products used and the presentation clearly shows it. Bizen has a lot of options at different price ranges, and whatever you order, it will be delicious, unique, creative and filling. There are vegan, macrobiotic and gluten free options galore. Very interesting creative rolls both veggie and fish.
The last time my husband and I went to Bizen, we are on a tight budget and spent under $50 between...

As we are locals and like sushi, we go to Bizen a lot. The sushi is very good, along with their dumplings and soups. The fish is fresh, and the green tea is good. i would recommend it for lunch/dinner if in Great Barrington.
