I work near the Happy Clam and visit about once every two weeks. I have had the haddock, clams, shrimp and scallops as well as the gumbo and chowder. Steve, the owner/head chef is a graduate of Culinary Institute of America and has worked all over the world but is a Beverly native and has come home. There is an... More

I come from Maine and when we talk, seafood comes out of our mouth. I had never heard of "The Happy Clam" until I purchased a golf pass and got a free diner card for various eateries. I went online and checked out several places and read many reviews. This place had many great reviews and a few bad reviews.... More

I was on my way to visit my brother in the hospital and he wanted seafood and his favorite place was, yep, The Happy Clam on Cabot Street in Beverly, MA. I grew up in this city and my brother still lives there with his wife. So, in I pull and enter the establishment. Greeted by a very pleasant young... More

This is a small place in a strip mall, next to a laundromat. Looks like a lot of the business is take out. There are only 4 booths and 3 tables but it is a nice comfortable dining area. We ate in and we were very happy with the food and the service. Fried clams and scallops were really good... More

I have been to the Happy Clam Seafood cafe in Beverly MA. It is located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking. I have only had the fried clams (Five big golden stars for the fried clams!), the cole slaw (also delicious) and the home made potato chips, very yummy. Also, the tarter sauce was very good .... I found the batter on the calamari and fried clams a bit heavy. The Lobster salad was fresh lobster meat, plentiful and delicious, not too much mayo. The order of onion rings was huge and good. Sweet potato fries is always a bonus and theirs were good. The baked fish and sauteed shrimp were good, nothing extra special, but still... More

My girlfriend and I went In because she wanted seafood and we didn't want to drive to Ipswich. My uncle said this place was great so being from Beverly/new England I know seafood. Every place I ever went to, ie Woodmans or clam box or even land & sea in Peabody, when u order a fried clam plate you see... More

I usually don't gush on my reviews of restaurants, and candidly I am a bit cynical when a new one arrives and I don't have much experience with it. When the Happy Clam opened I made a comment to a local business owner about, "so, how long do you think they'll be open?" His reaction was, "wow, you haven't heard... More
