Bets fishes in the morning then fries up enormous portions! You can get an enormous plate of French fries too with one order of fish and chips- we couldn't finish half of one portion! You can get a fish sandwich too- but get half- also a tower of fish! That is all! Yumalicious!

We ate here 15 years ago when we visited. This time we had to go back and get more of her great fried fish. You should know it is the biggest serving of fish in the whole area of Boothbay and Boothbay harbor. It is very fresh since it is just caught by her brother on her boat. He fishes... More

precooked????sounds like someone had an ax to grind with their Boothbay Region vacation overall. From a chef (professional) opinion, and I have owned several fried seafood locations in LA as well as MA, it is impossible to pre fry deep fried haddock as this writer asserts. I was invited into Bet's kitchen to observe her technique and maybe glean something... More

I Tried Bets last week even though the fish and very over cooked fries were pretty good I couldn;t help but notice the fish was pre fried, then put in the deep fryer again. The fries were almost burnt. Not to happy. Fish should be fried just once.

The title of my review says it all, and here are two tips: 1. Unless you’re a big fan of chips/fries, order the bowl of fish, but either way, ask for both sauces; and 2. The stand isn’t open seven days a week, and it closes between lunch and dinner.

A true venture into simplicity and classic unadorned New England fare. The choices are fish or fries or both. The portions are large. I could not finish a half order fish sandwich and I'm no wimp. The fish is as fresh as it gets, fried with skill. Suggest you BYOB. Excellent value. Needs salt which is right at the counter. And... More

This is little shack, not much bigger than a food truck. The menu is Haddock, Haddock, Haddock, that's it. Their Haddock fish and chips are the best. Tip..... If you order a half order they put the fries into the paper bowl and then put the fish on top. If you want it to go they cover with foil. This... More

I am kind of sorry to see Bet's on TA since I thought it a hidden treasure. Bet's is the "Best". The minimally coated, quick fried, fresh haddock is outstanding. The half order is not really a half , but half a fish, sweet, tender, and flaky. I think about it and anticipate getting back there every year. We usually... More

Bet's motto is do one thing and d it well. She fries fish and potatoes. The fish is the freshest haddock and the potatoes are hand cut french fries with a few hand cut potato chips in the mix, you can get a fish sandwich but the fish and chips is the real star here. I have a huge appetite... More

This is an authentic Maine Fish-shack, with picnic table seating only. Bet is the owner and fries all of the fish, which she gets from the family fishing vessel. The only item on the menu is fried haddock, with or without french fries. You also have a choice of tarter sauce or her "Special Sauce" which is her own dill... More
