we ever had in a restaurant. The roux was the darkest I've ever seen without being burned. The etoufee, crab claws, and onion rings were also good. It is definitely a "hole in the wall" in a shuttered part of town, but well worth finding. We will definitely go back if we're back in Shreveport.

Real layed back Creole. Only seats 30 at the most. Service is good. A beer and fish place. A must visit.

This place has been open since 1936 because of their wonderful southern recipes and hospitality! Was visiting Shreveport this week and found their reviews on Tripadvisor. I asked some of the locals how they felt about the place and each one gave glowing comments regarding the food. They did advise me the neighborhood had seen better days, but was safe... More

I was born and raised in Shreveport. I remembering eating there when I was about 8 years old. I’ve lived in the Dallas area for over 30 years. I never miss a chance to eat there when I go to meet friends and family. You might hesitate when you drive through the area to get there. Be strong…. Everything is... More

Spent one night in Shreveport and asked a friend who grew up there where to go to get a genuine experience. Herby K's was the answer. This is the type of place that would only be known by locals if not for the Internet. Counter and booth seating inside and a small patio for outside. Real authentic Louisiana fare (oysters,... More

A group of us were in town for a wedding in Shreveport this weekend. We were told by several people who were from the area to eat at Herby K's. We were hungry and thirsty when we arrived. We said outside on the patio which was nice. It was 70 and sunny. We got a round of beers, fried pickles... More

if for some reason you are stuck in shreveport LA, do not miss this joint. Herby K is the most legit divebar gumbo spot i have ever seen, and their chow puts many a New Orleans offerings to shame. Owner is a nice guy and the atmosphere inside is as authentic as it comes. Adding to the authenticity is the... More

Okay so getting a place to sit is sometimes tough, and the building itself might scare you, but the food makes it worth the wait. Always have to go here when we are in town. Their shrimp buster is awesome and they have great gumbo. If you've never been, you really should give it a try. It's the best hole-n-the-wall... More

When I first saw it, I was a little afraid to come near it because the town it was in seemed like a ghost town (we had even passed a graveyard on the way there) but it's worth it. Their famous shrimp buster wasn't as good as I expected it to be because the fried shrimp was tasteless (probably because... More

Herby K's is one of those hole-in-the-walls that must be visited. The resturant is very small, so be ready to wait. The food is great and the atmoshpere is awesome. I had the soft shell crab poboy and the ettoufee. It was all very good at a reasonable price.
