Having a lunch salad is hardly a dish that can speak for an overall culinary experience; however, I do love them at Zaxbys. I will say I am hearing good things in the community about the food. It is my hope the new ownership can make this restaurant a Dahlonega destination - we need it desperately. They might begin by... More

We've been going to The Oar House several times a year for the past 15 years or so. My elderly mother loves to go for the quiet, serene setting and the pleasant drive there. We do not get our hopes up for the food as it is always hit or miss. New chefs, new menus, new owners, it's never the... More

We were tired from an afternoon waterfall trek, and hungry. The recommended Corkscrew Restaurant was closed (a Monday) but our B&B host told us about The Oar House and we were glad. Sort of an "upscale" fish house decor but an excellent menu ads, apparently, caring chefs. Our ribeye stake couldn't have been better and our server guided us well.... More

We thought we'd travel a bit north (an hour north of our home)for the weekend & The Oar House sounded intriguing, location on the river & all. When we walked inside the interior looked a bit dated. I couldn't decipher if the table cloth was a camouflage print or an odd green & brown floral. We ignored it & ordered... More

I have not seen it covered in a review on this website, but the restaurant has undergone a change in ownership since our last visit. What changes did we notice OR know are coming? The most notable change was in the menu, some items have changed. IF you have been in the past you know that prime rib was a... More

As we walked in, I was presented with a carnation and we both got offered a glass of champagne. It was a very romantic environment with live music. We started the meal with a wonderful salad followed by leek and potato soup. The appetizer was Oysters Rockefellers and it was good. Then we had steak and lobster with roasted potatoes... More

We made reservations for Valentine's Day dinner special which included a Carnation and a glass of sparkling wine, a soup and salad each, Oysters Rockefellers to share (2 each). I chose the Surf and Turf while the spousal unit selected the Beef Wellington. Then we shared a desert of Crème Brulee while topping it all off with a bottle of... More

We sat on the deck overlooking the river. The temperature was good at that time. During a damp, humid time, the mosquitos might be bad on the deck. The food was good, the service was good. Would go back.

Our first time there we thought the prime rib to be OUTSTANDING. Second time eating there, same dinner during the week was found to be poor. I would suggest eating on weekend when more customers i think food would be hotter and fresher...Our last visit was for my birthday in June - the time food not so great. A few... More

At the time of this event I was owner and feel that I need to respond to this review. I loved this little hole in the wall restaurant. It doesn't look like the typical restaurant but that just adds to its charm. It has a great view of the Chestatee river. The food and staff were excellent! Try the bacon wrapped sausage stuffed dates...yum! I had a lovely time and will be going back. :)
