If you are within 100 miles of this place, it is worth your time to check it out. The seafood was incredible, the desserts divine. Sour orange pie was beyond description. I had oysters the size of tennis balls and scallops almost as big. Everything was perfectly prepared. I will go back sometime either for the quail or the venison,... More

I went with a group of 5 friends to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings home today, April 27, and then had lunch afterward at The Yearling. I had made reservations for lunch, but was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews about the service. We were seated immediately and received our drinks within a few minutes. I kept waiting to... More

The first time I went here I fell in love.....couldn't wait til the next time....so I returned only to be disappointed. The service was not good...the fried green tomoatoes were awful....and the soft shell crab mushy....this restaurant could be so good if the owners and staff and cooks would just pay attention to what people are saying.....we want to come... We visited the Yearling on April 14, 2012 around 5pm. There were hardly any people at the restaurant and we were seated right away. There were four in our party. We were taken to the back part of the restaurant in an open room, where there is an entire boat off to one side. One of the very nice things... More

We went to the the place for Saturday dinner. It was busy, but not overly so. I had the grits, the gator tail and frogs legs. The fogs legs were too bland for me. It seemed that it wasn't marinated enough, but I liked the dinner overall - as did my wife. The staff was courteous and friendly, and there... More

If the answer is "yes", then this is the place for you. Not everything is fried, but a lot of it is. I tried the breaded, deep fried "Gator" and actually really enjoyed it. Had the fried conch fritters, they were very usual, nothing special, had my eye on the fried green tomatoes, should have gone with that...but the Gator... More

We had heard about and seen many billboards of this very famous restaurant. It is out of the way.. If you think that route 301 is quaint, don't worry because when you turn onto the road where this restaurant is located it becomes "rustic" to say the least. Upon arriving there you immediately think two things. This is a mistake!... More

We, a party of four, went to The Yearling on a late Saturday afternoon. From the moment we sat foot in this enchanting place ,till when we left ,we were treaded with kindness and our waitress Anna was so attentive. The Duck and Venison was cooked to perfection ,not gamy at all, since their Venison is farm raised,as we learned from Anna. The blackened Grouper...
