Plastic knives and forks do not work with the salad! Forks are very bendy and do not stand up to any pressure. Salad was good but not outstanding. My husband had the pulled pork and rated it only average. Service very, very quick. Courtyard atmosphere is pleasant. Order at counter.
Loved the pulled turkey and the pimento cheese was excellent. Husband loved the pulled pork and sweet bbq sauce. Comfortable outside seating. Quick service. Highly recommend.
You go in & order at corner & they bring you food out to outside court. It was in the 70's so very pleasant. I had an excellant pimento cheese sandwich, very full of the cheese. My husband had a huge bar b q pork sandwich which he also liked. Good value also.
Just off the main street of Fernandina's historic downtown, the Happy Tomato offers a cozy place to have a quick lunch. The menu is simple, the staff is friendly and the service if fast. The treat is the patio that allows you to enjoy your lunch outside. Tree cover and umbrellas easily provide the shade you need during warmer temperatures....

Not life changing. Just good. Baked beans were delicious. Coleslaw also fresh, creamy and crunchy. The pulled pork was good but not mind blowing. BBQ sauce was good. I don't get the white sliced bread. Need something with a bit of texture to balance the soft meat.
The Happy Tomato Cafe is the perfect spot for a quick and delicious lunch! The barbecue is wonderful, sweet tea is refreshing and the chocolate chip cookies are to die for!

You have to understand, I'm born and raised in the south, and there are definitely some sacred foodstuffs that require a high bar to impress - as mentioned...

Stopped by after a triathlon at the beach. It was THE PERFECT place to reload with! The pimiento cheese is unreal - so good! It's laid back, friendly, and the food it great. Good beer, too!
Our first visit to Amelia Island was made even happier because of the delicious lunch we enjoyed at the Happy Tomato. The menu offers a lot of tempting items, so choosing wasn't easy, but my husband decided on the pulled pork sandwich, and I got the trio salad (pimento cheese, chicken salad, and tunafish salad). Eating in the lovely courtyard...
