Not only is this shop cool (live events, great staff, excellent food) the beans are incredible. The care that goes into roasting the fair trade organic beans lends to a perfect cup of coffee. We live out of state and always hit this shop on our way down to CT and even order beans on the website for home brewing.... More

The atmosphere is warn and friendly, wih the staff passionate and knowledgeable. Real human beings which give a great feeling of authenticity: this isnt any random coffeeshop, franchise X of some national brand, this ic learly a family-business taking its job seriously, to serve great quality coffee and me a beacon of warmth and service in their neighborhood. and the... Try the drip coffee or have an espresso drink. All of their coffee is roasted by them and is organic and fairly traded. A surprising gem in New London, CT. More

Their coffee is fantastic. Their breakfast sandwiches are tasty and their pastries are delightful. It is a place I have spent many hours just sitting back and hanging out. Amos glad they are here to make me feel at home. More

I had to stay in New London for business, and I ended up eating here every day- not only beacuse this place was that good, but also because surrounding restaurants were that bad! The salads here were fresh and crisp (unlike other nearby restaurants), the soups were awesome (chiken kale soup was great), atmosphere is laid back, artsy. Heaven forbid... More

Found it on the advise of our hotel concierge. Great coffee & deserts and they also serve an excellent breakfast. All esprresso is made by hand brewing and not by automatic machines (as in Starbucks) so the taste is far better. Regular coffee is also top notch. More

I love the Bean and Leaf. Great food, great service, awesome music performers on Saturdays and poetry on Sundays. Also features artwork by local artists. Very community oriented. Would recommend to anyone! More

I also read Port-A-Fan's review and strongly disagree. I'm at B&L (me & my friends's shorthand for Bean & Leaf) multiple times a month. I look forward to going each and every time. If someone is "expecting a starbuck's like experience" then go to starbucks. B&L is a small indepenently run coffee shop that unlike chains supports the community in... More

I, too, read Port-A-Fan's review and cannot believe their conclusions. I frequent the Bean&Leaf Cafe; it is my favorite spot to hang out and get great hot cocoa at. Their atmosphere is the best in town-very laid back and welcoming. There's a variety of seating types including bar/counters, tables, and couches. I can't say anything for their coffee and tea...
