Four of us dined this past Friday night and everyone enjoyed both their appetizers and mains. My husband and I both started with the scallop appetizer, which was incredible. I followed with the duck, which was also very enjoyable. Most impressively, we received great advice and service from our server, who was attentive and polite. He was very knowledgeable on... More

My wife and I discovered the Union League Cafe last year, around the corner from the Yale Center for British Art, and were happy to return: such an elegant space, impeccable service even during a busy weekday lunch hour (be sure to book ahead), and excellent food. This time, my wife chose the duck confit with diced apple, walnuts, and... More

Been there several times. Food and service go from very good to poor. Six of us at dinner. Couple of us raved about the food. The others rated it from average to poor. Also have been there when service was efficient (never friendly) to so poor i had to consider wether to tip or not. On the whole will not... More

This was a special occasion 50th Anniversary party! It was the perfect place for this event. The ambience, service and food were extraordinary. The room needed no decorations or balloons because it had its own charm. Enjoyed it immensely. Would recommend it for anyone having a special event!

A restaurant with a long history housed in a charming old building on Chapel, we enjoyed a meal with friends and our grad student son at the Union League. Service was a bit spotty and we had to specifically ask for water refills several times as well as remind the waiter to bring our coffee with desserts. Overlooking the inconsistent... More

This is the place I love to go for special occasions. Beautiful restaurant, great food and attentive French service. Expensive but worth it.

This is anything but a cafe. Set is a historic building in the heart of downtown, the Union League Café is New Haven's best French Restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is impeccable. The fish is always fresh. You cannot go wrong with the specials that change regularly. For a special occasion, book a table at the Union League... More

You just love some restaurants. Before moving to Westport from NYC where I was a Casting Director, I had to come up to NH occasionally to check out the theatre at Long Wharf or Yale. I moved to Westport and was still a Casting Director so I still went to NH every so often. After trying a few 'meh' restaurants... More

My wife took me here for my birthday celebration dinner. We have heard some good reviews and wanted to give it a try. All of our possible expectations were exceeded! The staff (Rebecca, Chris & Davey) were all super friendly and went above & beyond to enhance our dining experience. We had the Crab Salad & Scallops appetizers. Both were... More

I was recently there for lunch with another women and we went without a reservation Monday at 12noon. We were seated by the hostess in the worse table in the whole restaurant. That day we had a 150.00 lunch and they could not fit all of our food on our table. I doubt that anyone around us spent what we... More
