Oliver's has become an Essex tradition of long standing. Good place to take children as they have a menu for kids that hits the bases. Regular menu is solid fare and food is usually well prepared. Nothing extraordinary but reliably decent food. More

Have eaten at Olver's a couple of times the most recent being Jan 2012. On this last trip there my wife and stopped in because of the experience we had there our last visit. We ate in the bar upstairs this time. Had the french Onion soup and a union jack burger, which is a burger on an english muffin,... More

My family went here after touring on the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat tours. The food here is standard bar food- wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, nachos, etc. Food was good, atmosphere a little sad. Nothing special but if you need to grab a quick bite before or after the train with the kids it will suffice. A bit pricey for... More

Poor service, tables left uncleared for over an hour, large screen projection TV from the 80's, no sense of pride, no enthusiasm or excitement on a Friday night. What a dud! Dull menu but the burgers were not bad. More

Halfway through my unusually tough French dip sandwich, I was shocked and disgusted to find a 6" x 3" sheet of plastic wrap in my mouth. The kitchen's failure to remove the wrap before serving the roast beef was the crowning glory on an overall terrible experience. Overall, waitress seemed shaken and unable to juggle our party and two others,... More

Food was average; nothing to brag about. On two occasions, we were seated immediately upon arrival but had to wait 15 minutes until a server approached us. On the third occasion, it seemed the wait staff was very limited and not interested in taking our order. The upstairs bar scene was packed and much more busy than the restaurant. More
