I worked in West Sac for seven years and was so looking forward to dinner at Emmas's. Over the years Emma's stature has grown and folks in Sac now cross the river to check out this local Mexican culinary favorite. We parked on the gravel side of the lot, and a former student greeted us as we entered. Very typical... More

After several earlier visits to this West Sacramento landmark, we finally figured out to simply order one meal, e.g. a 3 item combo, for the two of us. The standard Emma dinner comes with soup AND salad, chips and salsa as a starter, and then the main plate arrives with enough food for an NFL lineman! Since it has been... More

Lots of GREAT Mexican food for a very reasonable price. The guacamole is to die for!!! It makes me hungry just writing about this place!

The service was slow, did not keep drinks and chips filled. I had the chimichanga, and it was dry, not very good.

I had heard all about this place - I was really unimpressed. Very mediocre mexican food.

My idea of good Mexican food is fresh food at a reasonable price. Emma's fits that criteria. The Margs are excellent. The local favorite is the Senator Jack Schader special with shredded beef. In reading some of the other reviews, Emma's is being compared to mom's home cooking with a few of the negative reviews. This is not fair. Compare... More

Of course the soup and salad are a given. Everything else is good standard taqueria food. Nothing very unusual or gourmet. A real fun place!

The key to the tacos at Emma's is asking for the shredded beef. Fantastic. The margarita's will blind you. Get the large one for yourself and a water for your designated driver. The soup is the best in town.
