The restaurant was a little smaller than we expected with nice German touches to it, but I feel they could have done a little bit more to add to the German ambiance. There was a small Swiss German cuckoo clock in the corner, some nice wooden shutters built around the opening to the bar/kitchenette, and clean Berber carpeting ,.... still... More

This restaurant is one of my family's favorites. We usually go when there is a birthday or celebration. The food is excellent. We lived in Italy and visited Germany every year in the summer. I am so glad there is an authentic German restaurant close by that I can enjoy. Everything I have ordered (or tasted off of someone else's... More

The best CurryWurst I ever had, because the chef is from the birth place of Curry Wurst (Berlin) The Schnitzel Vienna style was very tasty and the portions are big. In Monterey/Carmel, if you want food from the old country then this is the place to go.

The owners offer authentic German cuisine and hospitality. Food, atmosphere and setting are the real deal. Well worth a visit whether you are a Monterey local or on holiday. We actually held a family event/banquet here. It was perfect. The owners were flexible and really went the extra mile for us. Food was wonderful and service was outstanding. Price is... More

Quite honestly I didn't get to the food part. After politely asking at the door if we can get a table and stating that we have no reservation, we were greeted by "Pfft" sound followed by the statement that no tables are available for the next 2.5 hours, but the restaurant was ALMOST empty, only 2 tables out of 8... I chatted with the server in German, ordered off-menu drinks, and loved the food. Come with an appetite, you will be full. Sorry vegetarians, you have one menu item, that's authentic too. Worth the price to have something truly unique, in cuisine and atmosphere.

We used Trip Advisor to find this resturant and were so glad! We were greeted at the door and made to feel so welcome by the owner. He recommended the house plate and the food was amazing - and we shared it between my daughter and me and we could not finish it! The tastes were varied yet worked so... More

German restaurants are hard to find in California and most of them serve a kind of americanized German food. We were surprised to find one of the best and most authentic ones in this small oceanside town near Monterey. The room itself still caters to tourist tastes and would be considered outdated in modern Germany. But I guess this is... More

The authenticity of this restaurant is almost out of place in the town of seaside. The authentic look and feel when you enter is matched by great german beer and spectacular german dishes. Even for the area I thought it was a little pricey, but I will admit we will return because it really was delicious. We visited during an... More

Great friendly service! Best German I have had. The home platter was enough for two meals. The owner had a great attitude.
