This is a fine restaurant that has a wide selection of drinks and dishes . The service is very good ,you are made to feel welcome as soon as you arrive ! I was there with a group on business about 15 of us ,the staff were very customer friendly and graceful in their delivery.

Located on the second floor of the Fish Market is the latest stab at a good, upscale seafood restaurant. For those of you who have "experienced" the Fish Market, this is definitely a step up (literally and figuratively). One enters the Fish Market restaurant and waltzes past the lines and noise to travel up one flight of stairs to another... More

I took a friend here tonight who was just in town and wanted seafood. I live in the City but she was staying at a hotel near the airport and it seemed to far to drive to the city and back. Found this on Open Table...had been to the Fish Market before but not their more "high end" dining location.... More

The food is fresh, well prepared and tasty. The meat dishes are even delicious. The service is attentive. One of the best in San Mateo.

Had a very pleasant surprise when a client from S San Fran selected this restaurant in San Mateo. Never having visited this town, I was a bit skeptical of a restaurant on top of an active fish market. We were all very pleased by the selection of fresh seafood and the skill in preparing it simply and deliciously, It is... More

I was travelling alone on business and after reading the reviews decided to try The Fish Market. Apparently this is two restaurants in one. Upstairs is a business oriented restaurant, and downstairs is more of a casual "hands on" type of seafood place. The food was well cooked and portions were of a good size. I sat at the oyster... This place was ok. Not the best but far from the worst. The service was good but the portions were kinda skimpy IMO. I'd probably try this place again if I was hungry and in the area, the food was good and the prices were fair but it's not on my list of must eat places.

I am in California for a week every other month and have been to this place numerous times. This is not a mind blowing super creative food experience. The menu barely changes and the meals are pretty simple. However, the fish is one of the best I have had. I personally love the way they grill them with a simple... More

Made reservations, so there was no wait. (Thought I'd made reservations for the less expensive The Fish Market downstairs though!) After two weeks in CA I was still trying to find a seafood dinner. The one here was good but nothing out of the ordinary. There was as large a selection of seafood as I'd seen anywhere in CA, but... More
