We went to Kingfish for Mother's Day and the food was ok, but the drinks were outstanding. It's a very nice restaurant and our service was excellent. I didn't think the food was on par with the pricing. But, it was a very nice place and the drinks and service were excellent.

We have eaten here a couple of times and just ate here for Mothers Day. First off the staff from the waiter to the runners and hostess were all super friendly and efficient. It made for a great dining experience. We started off with a grilled artichoke and some oysters both were excellent. I ordered the Prime Rib, my wife... More

I've been to this restaurant on a couple of occasions. Always impressed by the quality of the food, and the attention paid to you by the staff. KingFIsh is a must have if you're around the greater bay area

Recently went to Kingfish for a large family birthday party. It's a hopping place at night, so make sure you have a reservation. We were seated upstairs in a spacious, open room with other large groups, plus some smaller tables for the overflow from downstairs. Because of the open floor plan of the restaurant, no carpeting or soft walls, the... More

I hadn't been here in a year and looked forward to it. Unfortunately the food fell way short of good. The crab bisque was served barely warm and had very little crab in it (one chunk). The seared Ahi was supposed to be a favorite but it was so bland. I rarely salt my food when eating out but the... More

We had never been and I have been wanting to try Kingfish since it's opening. We decided to go there to celebrate a slight belated b-day and an early Valentine's dinner. Which I noted on my reservations. We made reservations for 7pm. We arrived a little early. It was crowded and Extremely Loud. It ended up to be Fat Tuesday...hostess... More

Our Son lives in San Meteo so we were taken to Kingfish and from the moment we walked in we were shown a table quickly and had three waiters serving us .My fillet steak was cooked to my liking and the rest of the meal was to my special order. My Sons steak was so large he could not finish... More

I had the salmon and it was fantastic. It came with scallops, clams and mussels, on top of rice in a delicious sauce. I ate the entire bowl, and it was the best thing I've had in a long time! The service was good and I liked the artwork. It is a funky atmosphere that is strange for a seafood... More

For american food in a cavernous environment that's better than a chain, try kingfish. It's right downtown. Get something easy, like a burger or a steak, and stay away from anything complicated. Tables are far apart, you can ask them to turn down the music, and the beer selection is OK.

Kingfish is set in an old historic building in San Mateo on a corner, so windows abound. Tables are set on 2 levels with elevator service so it is accessible. You can dine at large comfy booths or tables, and there are a couple of bars with sofa areas. The whole place is sort of New Orleans voodoo hip and... More
