Saffron Indian Bistro is THE place for Indian food in San Carlos. The buffet has everything you could possibly want (great panaar and butter chicken). The tables have linens; the staff is polite and efficient. This is a wonderful restaurant. Lots of local tech workers there (many of them Indian) during lunch.

Food is too bland and very limited meat entrees for Buffet.Tandoori chicken was very bad and not properly cooked. They were out of one of their Deserts which is my favorite. Overall disappointed with the place.

We had such a great time here. We were travelling and this place worked out since it is walkable from the caltrain station. We ended up staying there much longer than a we usually spend at the buffets. The staff was very friendly and understanding, the food was excellent. The chef even got some freshly made jalebis out since we... More

We are big fans of authentic Northern Indian Cuisine and also enjoy local neighborhood restaurants, so we ventured to the cute hamlet of San Carlos on the Peninsula, where we found Saffron Indian Bistro. We were told that they had just hired a new Executive Chef, Parveen Sharma, who is an acclaimed Indian Chef from New Delhi. Chef Sharma is... More

San Carlos is not much of a destination, most people in the area drive through it rather than stop and that's a pity because if they did they might discover this little gem in San Carlos's downtown. I was actually just driving by when I saw it from the street and it just looked attractive, so when I had a... More

Our favorite Indian restaurant. Fav dish: Butter Chicken, their fresh warm Naan Bread with Cucumber Dip. On days where we want to eat at home, we love the convenience of submitting our order on their website and dropping by to pick up at the time specified. We've also taken advantage of Saffron's catering services for large parties. This is the... More

Great samosas, garlic naan and lamb saag. A little pricey, but meal was definitely delicious. Interior is also very classy and spacious.

After eating two days of leftover turkey we decided we needed a change. Watching the "Life of Pi" made us hungry for Indian food. Tonight we arrived at the opening time. We were seated immediately and our drink order was taken. The menu was new since we visited last. We ordered an appetizer unfamiliar to us, Chicken 65. The spices... More

The rotis are simply superb. Just try their tandoor roti with "mushroom mutter masala". It is a great combination. Other curry dishes are good but not like the one above.
