No visit to historic Downtown Riverside is complete without lunch at the locally iconic Simple Simon's. Follow the crowd into the line and learn as you go about their New York-style method of ordering your food. Don't forget the fine salads, cookies, other pastries and extras as you choose your soup and sandwich. You can modify you order a bit,... More

Was in Riverside just a few days, but had lunch here twice and a breakfast, it was that good! And that Christmas cookie, oh yum!

Yeah, I put an asterisk on that title. Crowded... could use a bit better service - albeit that they were very busy - 'cause it's fairly good. Open for breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. Mostly a sandwich shoppe - soup - bakery goods. "Different" sandwiches - not your regular stuff. "Homemade" bread (IF you live in a restaurant ;),... More

This place is iconic to downtown Riverside. The sandwiches are so good and huge 2 people could almost split one. They also have some very delicious soups and desserts. The sides are also very good. It does get very busy but it is well worth the wait.

Simple Simon's is a Riverside destination in itself. Outstanding bakery, favorite breakfast place, and best lunch sandwiches in town. You know that you're gonna' like it when you walk in and smell all of the goodies. The biggest problem is what to choose. For a great breakfast on a weekday that won't break your belt, try the "Breakfast Sandwich" (not... More

Fabulous baked goods all made on the premise. Delicious sandwhiches, salads, soups garnished with fruit or veggies. Terrific ambience. Can sit in booths or at tables inside or on the downtown mall outside in front of the restaurant. Buy a loaf of bread to take home before you go. Stop by for coffee and a pastry. Very informal. One places... More

Arrived around noon on a Friday and the queue was way out the door, which is surely a good sign. We didn't have too long to wait though and it was certain worth it. I had the tuna melt - on home-baked sourdough bread with a side pasta salad. My partner had turkey which was also home-baked and both meals... More

I love the sandwiches, fresh bread, yum. The desserts are worth the calories. Perfect place to sit out in the sun and people watch.

My wife and I went for breakfast on a Saturday. The place was very busy but efficient. The food was good except my fried eggs were cold. Their chicken/apple breakfast sausage was unique and their sourdough toast was really good.

Three couples joined up for lunch at Simple Simon and sat on the front p atio. My Hsband and I split the roast beef croissant & deli potato salad. So worth the extra dollar to upgrade to the deli potato salad. It's the closest to my mom's, who also put bacon in her's, that I've ever had out. It was... More
