Good, honest Mexican (Yucatan) food a modest prices. There are a number of good Mexican restaurants in Pasadena and I must say I prefer El Portal to all of them. The service is good and the food is very tasty. My favorite dishes are the camarones a la diabla, the chimichanga and the carnitas. All very tasty and flavorful, nice...

Food is authentic. Have been here many, many times. Food and service are always consistent. I have even held many family celebrations here (20-30) guests and they handle it perfectly. Mole is delicious as are most items on menu. Bar is also very very good. If you want the BEST mexican food around this is the BEST

OK, let me explain :)
Happy hour with colleagues, but I was traveling here for work (home office) from NY and had my 1 year old son with me, so he was with me, and my husband.

I love the little "arcade" shopping village this restaurant sits in on Colorado Blvd., home of the Rose Parade. The restaurant itself is a charming little place with very good Mexican food and a rare thing on the menu: chili colorado. Everything we tried on the menu was good and the staff was wonderfully helpful too.
Enjoy!

El Portal is our go-to Mexican restaurant in Pasadena. We like to take our family here when they come visit. Its authentic Yucatan cuisine, friendly waiters, and family atmosphere are just what we look for. Tip: in the fall, be sure to order a bowl of their pumpkin soup. It's so wonderful I served it last year at Thanksgiving!

If you are in the mood for Mexican cuisine in an intimate setting, El Portal is not to be missed. I have never had a bad meal there. I love their mole on anything! The flan is to die for. The service is prompt and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

Took my girlfriend here on our 4 year anniversary after coming across it by google searching "best mariachi restaurant in los angeles" since my girlfriend loves mariachi music. After checking out on yelp, I decided to take a chance and made reservations for a Friday night which is supposed to be their busiest night since they have a mariachi band...

Only my first visit to El Portal, so I can't go into detail. I was pleased to find the emphasis on Yucatan cuisine and found the food fresh and delicious. I had the Cochinita Pibil, an achiote seasoned pork roasted in banana leaves. The only down side was the lack of attention from the wait staff once our food was...
