We had dinner there. Ambience very nice. The presentation wonderful. Our meal was good and the service good as well. We enjoyed our evening.

We were in Monterey for 1 day visiting from the East Coast. Read about Restaurant 1833 and wanted to check it out. So glad we did. We had drinks and apps at the beautiful white onyx bar. Bartenders are serious about their cocktails and hubby enjoyed his.
The building and its many dining rooms were very interesting.

Went here last night for their Fried Chicken Family dinner. Started with great drinks on the beautiful courtyard around the fire, fantastic! Then came dinner which at a cost of $36 included appetizer, salad, fried chicken and dessert. The appetizer consisted of 1/2 of a small deviled egg, good, but tiny. Salad was a wedge of iceberg lettuce with what...

I was in Pebble Beach for the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Event in Early April. My friend that lives in Monterey told me about this lovely little place so we made reservations. Monterey was pretty packed for the week so I really was not expecting to much. I had read some reviews about the service not being up to...

Too bad trip advisor has a 100 character minimum because I can sum this place up with few words. Awesome atmosphere. Unique Drinks. Great food (get the shroom and prosciutto w/poached egg pizza!).
Took the family here after our day in Monterey area. Beautiful outdoor plaza with firepits where you can have drinks under the iconic tree, and great atmosphere inside the old house with lots of energy. Meal was special, including the biscuits. Very helpful wait staff including sommelier who steered me to an excellent but lower priced choice than my first...

Everyone is entitled to an an opinion, but the SF Chronicle's recent raves about this place seemed to make it a no-brainer! We couldn't wait to try them out! We could not believe a restaurant of this pedigree could fall so short.
We pre-ordered the whole truffled chicken on a Thursday night and some other plates just like the review...

It is a restaurant using a home built in 1833. There are fire pits in the front and they have an excellent selection of scotch.
From the bacon biscuits to the Branzini fish..., a real treat for your taste buds. The chef has amazing talents for these creations. The complimentary parsnip soup and the pudding dessert were all winners. The farm raised abalone I would not order again, as there are too many other fabulous choices. Bryan was our waiter and we appreciated his expertise....

This is almost five stars-- 4-3/4 stars. The only reason it isn't is because I'm still remembering the fabulous meal we had at Mama's Fish House in Maui-- which is the freshest and most delicious fish I've ever had. But, this is Monterey.
We arrived at 5:15pm, with reservations for 5:30pm. That gave us a little time to sit at...
