Santouka was amazing. Featured inside the Mitsuwa supermarket is this delicious gem. The ramen is amazing, but honestly even better is simply their pork over a bed of rice -this was melting in your mouth heaven. They were very busy at lunchtime, but no worries, ample comfortable food court-style tables. The food is so delicious and everyone is devouring it,... More

While Mitsuwa is a chain of Japanese grocery stores across the US, their food court is about as authentic Japanese that you can get this side of the Pacific. Be warned that all the food vendor stalls only take cash, but there was a Bank of America ATM inside last time we were there. Get the ramen bowl! My favorite... More

FUN SUPERMARKET full of mystery (I can't read Japanese) fruits, vegies, freshly-dead fishes, non-perishables, but also identifiable smoked eel, seaweed, Japanese flavors of ice cream, kitchen dishes and utensils, and a refrigerated deli counter from which one can choose boxed dishes (such as smoked eel on rice with seaweed strips and a packet of soy sauce) ranging from snack size... I wasn't the biggest fan of ramen restaurants since I've been disappointed enough times in my hometown and when traveling to other places. I admit I was skeptical when coming here since I've been to the "best" ramen places in California had to offer and all have left me with a terrible aftertaste. Boy was I wrong...this place rocked!!!!! I... More

OK, so after researching, I ended up in the food court at the Mitsuwa marketplace for a bowl of ramen from the famed Santouka. I had the shio ramen combo with a side of rice with soybeans on top and soy egg. Ramen broth was a bit on the salty side, not quite as flavorful as it was salty. Pork... More

Love the variety of stuff in their supermarket, love the restaurants specially Santouka, love the service...Price can be a bit of challenge if you compare with other commonly known groceries. Parking is sometimes also a problem. Longer store hours please and maybe include a lotto station inside. More Japanese confections please. A yakitori place is still lacking in the food... More

We love Santouka just like all the reviews here. We love it so much that when we were first going to santouka, we would bring our own tupperware to take ramen home and eat it(we have 2 small children and sometimes its just easier at home). We then found out they at least give you to go boxes and cartons... More

great find in san diego. the go to place if you have a ramen craving. No comparison to traditional japanese restaurants where ramen is not the main dish. had the miso ramen, great broth, delicious chewy noodles. friendly staff. wish we had one in santa barbara.

My husband and I met in Japan and the aroma, sites, and sounds in this store whisk us back to the place we love and miss. The ramen noodle shop inside Mitsuwa is the most popular of the 4 restaurants inside this grocery store and it is the most authentic we have found outside of Japan. They even give you... More

We had lunch there for 2 consecutive days when we stayed in a hotel in Torrance. We have been in Mitsuwa Market in New Jersey but this one has much more selections. Each one of us could pick a lunch from different restaurants, and they were good. If you love Japanese food, you should go there! They accept cash only... More
