This is a traditional old Southern California Mexican restaurant and an offshoot of the Sunset Blvd El Cholo which was Gary Cooper's favorite restaurant. I grew up in La Habra in the 1960s and have always loved Mexican food and before Mexican became so ubiquitous El Cholos was already an institution, . In the 60s and 70s El Cholos was... More

Very casual, laid back, attentive service and a Corona, what could be better! Really great Mexican food, love the fish tacos and chicken fajitas. Not too expensive and try and sit outside on the patio, main road just outside but do you notice, He'll No! Definitely worth a trip.

We were a group of four that had an early dinner at El Cholo back in March. We used to frequent this restaurant some 25 years ago, so it was nice to see that they were still in business and serving good food. We picked an outdoor spot which was fine. The waiter was pleasant and professional. We all enjoyed... More

I practically grew up here, and I've seen almost every single one of my birthdays here. The staff is super friendly, the food is authentic and very, very tasty. I highly recommend the freshly made guacamole you can get as an appetizer, they make it right there at your table just for you! Everything is fresh, prices are great, and... More

I have been a customer here for the past 20 years since I moved to Whittier, but recently I have been disappointed with their food. I have always loved this place, they actually have wonderful green corn tamales. They are my favorite. However, the last couple of times I have been there, the beans were cold, the service was bad... Okay, let's start with margaritas, it's only natural. We got the Cholo classic maggies for 7.75. They are in 16 oz tumblers and are very tasty. One is worth 3 of the El Torritos'. The food is fresh and delicious. I had the filet (mignon) tacos-tender and flavorful, like they were on the bbq grill. Black beans and good rice,... More

We ate here for the first time during a visit yesterday. It's apparently a long-time (opened in 1923) restaurant landmark in La Habra, and I can see why it's stood the test of time. The margaritas were tasty, and the food was very good. My wife had Taste of History sampler platter that had a taco, enchilada, chile relleno, and... More

The "LA lemonade" margarita is delicious! Salsa fresh and chips fresh, usually. Enchiladas great, filet mignon tacos also great. Speedy service and reaonable prices. Definitely a keeper.
