Description: A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few. Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Creme Brulee, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats. A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado. Completely remodeled in 2005, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received. The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday. Join us for our signature Happy Hour.

This is a neighborhood restaurant. It is part of a local chain, but each location has its own atmosphere. The "Brig" is a popular spot for happy hour and for a hopping oyster bar, and the restaurant serves well prepared fish and some meat entrees that are reasonably priced. Get there before 6:30 for the "Sunset special" Sunday through Thursday.

This rating is for the bar menu at the La Mesa Brigantine only. We frequently stop there for cocktails, oysters on the half shell and fish tacos. The prices for happy hour drinks are reasonable, the oysters are always outstanding and the fish tacos are, by far, the best in San Diego. The bar/patio atmosphere is very comfortable, casual and... The Brigantine has great food, old school county club atmosphere and bad service. Most of the wait staff are high school and collage girls that are to busy gossiping then waiting on tables. Our waitress forgot one of the meals and then it took her about ten minutes to get it to us. Beyond the not so good service we... More

We saw this restaurant's menu on the first day of our 4 day trip to Coronado California and made a mental note to have dinner there one evening. While my husband and I had identical things to eat and drink that day with the exception of our entree at Brigantine, within 2 hours I developed debilitating stomach cramps and eventual... More

Food was very good, service also good. The dining room was very noisy. They have a small parking lot. It fills early.

Near the Del Coronado. Cosy semi private banquettes are available. Ask about substitutions for the sides. Staff very accommodating. Chips are excellent. We had sand dabs and salmon; both excellent. Clam chowder he'd a very good taste, but pretty light on the clam part. If driving, this is one of the few restaurants on Orange that has their own (free)... More

Though this place in not cheap, we have always been happy when we come here to eat. Service is always good and the food is delicious. They do have an inclusive menu with all 3 courses for a good price before 6pm on weekdays. We usually get a fish course and the chef there knows how to prepare fish. Tender... More

Across the street from the famous Hotel del Coronado, the Brigantine is a comfortable walk from many of the hotels and the downtown area. With seafood as our goal we expected a good meal and were not surprised at its excellence. Having recently returned from several weeks in Italy where artichokes are served in a variety of delicious dishes we... More

I was looking for a restaurant on Coronado that had great fish tacos – and the Brigantine delivered! I didn't just have fish tacos – I had swordfish tacos...and they were very delicious! The cost? $12 for 2 tacos, mashed potatoes & rice pilaf....a pretty dang good deal that filled me to the brim. My wife had the Chicken Picatta... More

We bicycled from downtown SD to the ferry, then over to the Brigantine for a casual bite in the bar. Fish and shrimp tacos are available by the piece during happy hour (3-6 pm except Saturday), or two to a plate with slaw and freshly made potato chips for around $11. They were fresh and tasty and the service was... More
