A friend brought us for diner on Wednesday and we came back for lunch Friday. Crowed but the service was attentive and the sushi was some of the best we have had in years. The miso, salad, and fish were all better than you generally find.

Excellent sushi - the only downside is it is usually very crowded and requires a wait, which is to be expected at a great restaurant - you just need to plan accordingly - they also have free parking just across the street

Absolutely great sushi. This is our favorite place for sushi in Berkeley and surrounding areas. Our standard selections are seafood gyoza (not in the menu, standard option made with pork, but they'll make it with seafood if you ask) and sushi dinners. We absolutely love this place and go whenever we crave for sushi.

We used to live in the area. This was our first visit back in 10 years, and Kirala is still tops. We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed great service. Nice range of selections, super fresh and flavorful.

Be sure to try items from the Robata grill or the sushi. If you don't get there when they open, be prepared for a wait (if before 7:30, go to Berkeley Bowl and get some shopping done!)

To wait outside for them to open for 20 minutes is not something I will be doing a second time. While the food was fine, I really can't understand why everyone seems to get so excited about it. Very acceptable but not outstanding Japanese food.

This is an outstanding sushi restaurant, the only thing that is bad is that you can't make reservations. So the wait can be 30 minutes or more at times. Take the time and go here.
