We love Indian food but have trouble with spiciness. This restaurant is wonderful because they completely adhere to their spiciness scale, if they say it is 0, it is not spicy at all but still delicious flavors. I definitely recommend the portobello mushroom, as good as foie gras but without the poor goose being involved, they cook it in some... More

Ajanta which is named after the infamous caves in India, has wonderful food. I always have enjoyed my meals at this restaurant. More

The food was very tasty. The atmosphere was great and the service was very good. The only thing I found odd was the chutney's they served w/ papadam. They might be very authentic but I thought 2 of them were awful. The main meal was very good but I personally would avoid the chutney's. More

Heard great things, but nothing was flavorful and the food missed distinction. More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food at Ajanta. I've been essentially indifferent to the Indian food I've tasted here in Vermont. Enjoying spicy food, I was surprised and delighted by the superb blending of herbs and spices that flavor the food at Ajanta. This restaurant is in the first rank of restaurants for marrying tradition with a modern... More

No curries in a metal camp tray here. The foods are beautifully presented in a manner that helps distinguish the delicious flavors of the different dishes. More

Most Indian and Pakistani restaurants serve much the same menu. Not Ajanta! Each month, the menu changes, and each month, food from a variety of regions is featured. Be open to the possibilities and to the happy surprise of dishes quite different from what you may think of as Indian food. More

We met friends with who we've traveled in India for an excellent meal consisting of the following four entrès which we shared. Suffice it to say that we practically licked our plates. DAKSHINI GOSHT: Boneless Colorado lamb pieces cooked in a sauce made with onions, tamarind, almonds, coconut milk, and spices, including coriander and fenugreek (South India) SCALLOP CURRY: Fresh... My wife and I went to this restaurant because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor. It's right on the main street in Berkeley. Is is a VERY authentic Indian restaurant. We were greeted at the door by the owner, turbin and all. The staff was extremely helpful and explained any dishes on the menu that we were not familiar with.... More
