We had dinner here twice (as the meals at our hotel were extraordinarily overpriced!) and enjoyed it both times. The restaurant is well laid out with heaps of tables. Staff are friendly and efficient. Menu had lots of options with local, Chinese, Thai and western options. Our curries were pretty good both times, served with soup and condiments. Prices were... We ate dinner here twice while staying at the Tharabar next door. It is about a one minute walk! On both occasions we ate Burmese food which seems to have been a good idea given reviews of western food on this site! Stand outs our first night were the chicken Musaman curry with potatoes and peanuts and stir fried pork... More

Food was good and the restaurant well shaded. The food was not expensive and there was lots of variety including Chinese, Thai and Burmese dishes to choose from. The washroom was clean and the staff friendly.

We ate here a couple of times whilst staying at the Tharabar Gate hotel next door: we had the Burmese set meals and found the soup, tomato salad and curries delicious. Better than the hotel and half the price. Lots of people seem to pan this place for being lousy at making pizza and pasta: grow up, you're in Burma,... More

we went into Sarabah 2 for lunch & had ommlettes & beer which was good at a very reasonable price. Went back in the evening & had Western food - big mistake. The pizza was the worse I've ever tried to eat & the steak was more like a beefburger. Very disappointing.

We had dinner at this restaurant twice with our three young kids and they didn't go hungry. That is already a big bonus. Menu is very broad (local cuisine, Chinese, pizza, etc). The plain pizza is one of the best we had in South-East Asia, simple flavours as it should be. Chinese was OK too. It is quite cheap too,... More

The only thing this place has going for it is its convenient location near the Tharabar Gate and some of the major temples, so if you are on a horse cart you dont have to go out of your way. Otherwise the food is mediocre, the service is indifferent, and you are stuck in amongst some group tours.

Clean, wholesome & right in the midst of the temple tour route. Good mix of local & European food & nice & shady when the sun beats down.

A lovely respite from hot, dusty sightseeing. Right behind the Tharabar Gate is a garden setting with high ceilings and a restful atmosphere. Based on one meal, though, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the Myanmar set lunch and, compared with lunch the previous day at Feel Myanmar in Yangon, it was a letdown. Not bad, mind you,... Good atmosphere, good service (we were the only customers when we ate lunch there. But very average food and twice (at least) the price you'd pay in a small street restaurant for the same food quality. Ask for insecticide coil to burn because mossies are agressive...
