I must admit, we (2 adults, 2 children aged 5 and 7) visited this restaurant by accident, thinking it was the curry restaurant rated much higher on Tripadvisor. However the authentic cosy feel of the restaurant combined with attentive service had us hooked straight away. We had poppadoms for starters which were freshly cooked and served with an unusual and... More

went to the banquet night which was only £10.95. Lovely starter and main (korma) was delicious. However, would say that there was a LOT of food and after my starter and with naan bread only ate about half of my main. Also, the restaurant was quite hot. However, the staff were friendly and the service was quick. Would go again. More

Great atmosphere in a dark booth lined room. Extensive menu at cheap prices.. Last time I went was a Wednesday and they had a banquet night. I had a starter, main course, rice, side dish, sundry/bread and a coffee for £10. Service was excellent and I will definately go again soon. More

We started coming back when we heard they changed the chef! So glad we did been regular visitors ever since. Best king prawn madras I have had in uk. My husband has tried many dishes, but having tried mine he now is a convert. Nicely decorated, pleasant helpful staff. More

My partner and I went to Helal for the first (and last) time on a Thursday night. As we arrived, there were a few tables in, and the atmosphere seemed ok. Upon ordering our food, my partner discussed with the waiter that I have a serious peanut allergy and questioned what oils are used for cooking and asked for guidance... More

Whilst all the usual traditional dishes are good, don't restrict yourself to the ordinary dishes that you recognise. Go to the Helel Specialities and try something different. Any dish barbecued in the tandoori is exceptionally good. Also, although not listed on the menu, they will cook indian fish (pangash) to any style you choose. Even the meals in the specialiites...
