We've just returned from a weeks stay in Northleach. The Red Lion was the most welcoming during our stay. We went in on the first night and me and my partner had a lovely steak meal. The Landlady asked what we would like to eat (we didn't look at the menu, she just asked us what we would like). My... More

If the sign outside is advertising great food, don't expect food!! After the locals stopped and stared we were welcomed by a less than friendly lady who we asked if food was being served this Saturday evening. (we asked because the dining tables were empty) After a thoughtful gaze came the reply " Er no, we aren't , she is... More

I stopped off here on Christmas Eve. There was a lovely open fire to sit by whilst waiting for lunch to be prepared - home made soup and "doorstop" ham sandwiches. Lovely traditional pub.

On reading one of your reviews, I was made slightly angry by the negativity of the couple who posted it. I am not even certain they got the name right. This is certainly not the Red Lion I know. I am a bit suspect of this report, I'm sure it's possible for someone wishing to blacken the reputation of a... More

The bad reviews below MUST have been dreamt up by the competition... we've (me and my wife, usually when touring around the Cotswolds on days out) made occasional visits to the Red Lion over the last 2-3 years (prob. about 6 or 7 times now) and have always been impressed with the genuine feel of the place and the hospitality... Where to even start... I went here with my boyfriend roughly a month ago for a nice drink in the sun because I came here many years ago and really enjoyed it however this time round I was disgusted. Firstly we went in and waited for about 15 minutes to be served because no one was at the bar. Then... More

The Red Lion really is a great pub and serves the best real ale for miles around. Great decor and very helpful and friendly staff. If you are after a good pint of beer this is the place to go. It has not done accommodation for years, but hopefully that will come in the future.

I grew up in Northleach and the Red Lion used to be a great pub. Unfortunately, a lot has changed over the years. 5 of us went in on a Saturday night; there was no music and there was a sum total of 3 people (old men) in the bar. Walking into the bar area, the barmaid looked us up... More
