We visited on recommendation from someone who was staying at our hotel, we were not disappointed. Very good food with great service.
Nice place, really tasty fresh food, friendly staff. When we went there was a crazy storm and the electric and lights went but they carried on regardless with candles, it was kinda nice. We thought we were stuck because of rain and lightning but the staff even gave us a lift back to hotel, bless them.
Came here after walking past most nights & it looking like a nice place to eat....How wrong were we!? Steak - very pricey & bland - can get the same meal for half the price & a lot nicer from any of the places to eat on the same Road. Vegetarian Lasagne tasted like dish water!! Drinks expensive! - DON'T... More
We had gone here after reading good reviews on trip advisor and were so disappointed, the warning bells started ringing when they didn't have the wine we ordered from the menu, they only had a choice of 2 white wines so we had beers instead, We were a party of four and only one meal was ok. Decided to visit Swallows after reading so many wonderful reviews. First impression was wow, wonderful puffa bread and starters but sadly main course was so disappointing. We ordered beef ottoman which stated strips of beef, it was actually small cubes of beef and not at all tasty, more like a watery stew! Hubby tried liver and onions with mashed potato,... More

Went here for a meal last night. Service was excellent. Seated immediately and napkins put on our laps. We had some bread given to us which suited me as I didnt want a starter. both mine & my husbands meal excellent & good service. We shared starters & the free puffy bread. For main my husband had a seafood casserole which he said was great, I had chicken stuffed with nuts, fruit etc very unusual & very yummy.
From the moment you sit down, the staff make you feel welcome, meal was truly delightful, having it served on to your plate at the table is a nice touch, although not the cheapest place to eat, you get what you pay for and definitely worth a couple of visits during a holiday.
Good bread, honest cooking of traditional dishes, reasonable and affordable house wine, efficient service.
