This is a great place to jnjoy the very best Sushi and Japanese food on the west coast. The restaurant is located on the channel, so you are able to watch the fishing fleet and charter boats come in and out of the harbors. Eagles line the railings, and watch you eat. The serving staff are friendly and welcoming -... More

I ate at the Old Powerhouse, twice, during a recent business trip to Kodiak. The food is good. The service was as welcoming as the temperature in the restaurant... cold (hence the low ratings for service and atmosphere). The Powerhouse is alright, but isn't at the top of my list for future visits to Kodiak. More

One of Kodiaks top restaurant. Sushi is pretty good, nothing fancy though. Probably would not not above a two star in the lower 48. But for Kodiak it is great! More

We ate here twice - the first time we started with non-Japanese food - a BIG mistake. When we returned for lunch at the suggestion of Beverely are to Visitors Bureau office we were much happier. Japanese of all kinds - if like that you'll enjoy this. Service one time exceelent the other - not so good. More

I'm not a sushi expert but it just ssems better here than anywhere else I've had sushi. Great atmosphere - lots of light and windows looking out over the channel. Fishing boats going by - even the ferry. Long list of sushi and sashemi but also plenty of cooked food for you non sushi eaters. Lunch specials for 9.95 are... More

The only problem with this restaurant is that service can be a bit slow. However, the quality of the fish is absolutely great and we enjoyed it a lot. I've been to Kodiak a lot and will return the next time I am in town! More

Fresh seafood from local waters makes this place unbeatable. White King Salmon sashimi was like butter. Sushi chef from Japan, owns the restaurant and is hard at work nightly preparing his special offerings. Black Cod appetizer was also outstanding. Local Kodiak Island Brewing beer adds to the experience. More

I was happily yumified by the variety of rolls. The no name, blackjack, dynamite tuna, and slim rolls come to mind. More

We were with two other couples and tried this place. Everyone went back the next night, and the other two couples came back again while they waited for their plane to Anchorage. Amazing food and service in an otherwise dreary place for food. More

Found this place on a recommendation. Had a very good meal (one of the specials) on a Saturday evening. Shrimp and Scallops with a spicy onion sauce. During our meal, we noticed that they were doing a great sushi business, so we decided to return on Sunday evening and were very excited about the quality and variety of the fresh... More
