The service is good. The owners are friendly and fun, and the restaurant is located at the beginning of the Spit (the Spit is a small stretch of land in the middle of the ocean in Kachemak Bay).

The girl at the counter was great, but the food was nasty. It cost $16 for a small plain cheese pizza, if you could even call it pizza. The dough was undercooked, chewy, and way too sugary. I had to apologize to my taste buds (and stomach) after eating it. You are better off buying a frozen pie at Safeway....

The take home and bake pizzas from the local store are better and cost much less. Service was slow and they gave the impression that they did not care.. Too bad since the place has potential and has been better in the past.
We travel monthly thorughout the state during the summer so have occasion to eat here at least once a month. The meat lover's pizza is the best; service is usually good. Must understand the staff also prepares takeouts so it may take awhile to get your order but it's worth the wait. Not a place to go if you're in...

Food quality is always very good. Have had mixed experiences with service over the past several years.
With better service, Starvin' Marvin's in Homer, Alaska would rate an average. Pizza is okay (some in my party liked the butter crust), but the service was a let down. In the middle of the afternoon, with only our party in the place, it took an hour to get two pizzas. Cooks must be operating at the same level of...

Starvin Marvin's Monday Night special is a great value. ($9 buck per XL pie between 7 and * PM). Decor is old and a bit tired, but location on the spit base is great. Service was a bit frazzled and not very prompt, but it was fine for people not in a hurry Taste of pizza was good for Alaska...

When you want a relatively quick dinner or lunch and pizza sounds good, Starvin Marvin's is a good choice on the Spit. Our pizza was good and we would go there again.
I made the mistake of getting here late evening on a Saturday to order my pizza, but then when you say the place extremely busy it can only be a good sign!
I had to wait about 30 mins for my pick up but it was well worth it! Returned after 7 days in the back country and headed straight here...

Truly loved this fabulous family run restaurant. By the way their salads are wonderful. I was amazed at the wonderful greens and vegetables found in Alaska. The view is quite nice.
