Not a fabulous restaurant. (not sure they exist here), but at least an honest, well prepared meal. Fresh greens, homemAde sauce, fresh ingredients, and friendly staff.

El Olivo's is a bit off the beaten track (up the big Santa Elena hill, past the Art House, and across from Sabores). However, it is well worth the trek. The lovely owner serves delicious food in a sparklingly clean, intimate space with cheer and goodwill.
We can recommend the tortilla soup (chicken broth, avocados, melty cheese, green beans, tastychicken...

This was without question our best meal in Costa Rica. Outside of the main part of town, small and no other patrons until we were nearly finished, felt like we were honored guests in a local family's home. I can still taste the Honey BBQ Braised Pork Ribs. They were heavenly. This was just an incredible find not having heard...

This is an absolutely great restaurant! From the soups made fresh with hearty al dente vegetables. A cheese plate to die for with local unpasteurized cheese! A steak with a dark chocolate sauce to die for and perfectly cooked shrimp. Desert was great and they had a decent wine list.
A definite must while in the area!

We shared an appy and a main. The food was delicious. Given the location of the town we love finding small places like this that can put on a...

We had a lovely meal here, it was fresh, tasty, well cooked and good value. The setting was intimate, as it's a small family run restaurant and very friendly.
Don't be put off if you come in & there's no-one to greet you, there is only one lady running the front of house. She's friendly, efficient & very welcoming, but...

Only open a short time, the owner is gracious and welcoming. You feel like you just ate at your aunt's house. We selected local dishes and were very pleased with the taste and price point. They will be more polished after some time and that may be unfortunate as the humble service is a welcome change.
